Game: World Alliances and Rivalries System: Freeform (little dice use (almost never), mostly focused on writing and character development, no stats to speak of) Format: PBEM (we have a Discord server for out of character chatter, but gameplay occurs via a Google Group, with another Google Group used for OOC messages from the admin/GMs like rules tweaks.) Players: No real limit though for now 12 is probably a good max. (We currently have 6.) Description: Pick a country on the map of the world (as of 9/2/17)! You play a head of government (President, PM, dictator, Caudillo, etc). We're looking for a few good leaders! In longer terms, we're a mix of Star Trek "simming" (in writing style), political drama (a la "West Wing", in that we don't just explore foreign policy, we explore domestic policy to a degree, and the personal existences of our main characters, the heads of government), wargame (this on more of a "pinch of salt" level), and sometimes technothriller. (Proportions vary and the mix is very much a shifting one over time.) Other stuff to note: Countries taken are listed on the how to join page at this link. It's relatively authoritative, but we really do need 3 countries listed when you sign up. Makes it easier if your first choice was taken before we had a chance to update that page. Otherwise, if you're looking for "countries we really suggest" if you have no clue: Currently, we could really use a Germany, and possibly Japan. Other potentially neat-but-untaken countries are Brazil, Canada, and Ireland. If you have questions, feel free to send me a PM. They ping my email so I get back to em pretty quick. If you don't have PMs, never fear. Send an email to wargms2@gmail.com and one of us (the two co-GMs) will do our best to respond as soon as possible. Edit to add as of December 28 2018: Just wanted to update this that we now have a new player, so we're at 7. Countries currently taken as of right now are US, Israel, Italy, Russia, Spain, India, and Australia. We would really like a player for China (Mainland China, to be clear), Germany, or the UK. You can take whatever country you like that isn't taken, but if you're asking us we would love one of those 3. Spacewolf fucked around with this message at 15:59 on Dec 28, 2018 |

Game: Shadows over the Reikland System: Warhammer Fantasy Fourth Edition Format: Play by post Players: 6 Description: HO THERE! A shadow falls over the Reikland and dark deeds are afoot at the behest of foul fiends and scheming heretics. Gather your protagonists, rat catchers and sell swords—there’s righteous work to be done for the brave, bold or simply opportunistic men and women of the Empire. I’m after six brave souls to embark on this adventure, to form bonds of camaraderie in the thickest of circumstances and maybe, just maybe, survive to see the other side before the end times beckon.

Game: Out of the Frying Pan... System: Warhammer 40K RPG: Rogue Trader Format: Voice Chat via Discord Players: Up to 7 Description: Grab your bolters and whisper a prayer to the Emperor--we're off to explore the Koronus Expanse, a practically uncharted sector of lost worlds teeming with humanity, harsh planets hiding vast deposits of minerals, and foul hives of Xenos demanding to be purged. But it's not just a sandbox. I also have a plot threaded through it all--one of intrigue and politics, conflicts both subtle and overt, over stakes that could change the fate of the Imperium itself--if you choose to follow it. I'm looking for up to 7 brave souls to join me. Veterans and newbies equally welcome. I want to run the game slightly less grimdark and more in the style of "Heroes of the Imperium" with mighty characters, great deeds, and ample opportunity for profit.

Game: Blood and Booze System: VtR 2E Format: Discord (still debating voice or text) Players: 4-6 Description: The Progressive Era has entered it's heyday and the most disastrous Amendment in America history has just been ratified, a racist little piece of law outlawing liquor and Alcohol. Evangelicalism, Spiritualism and Labor waves have risen high to the sky and scare those beneath with the shadows of their wave, that might just sweep them away for good or for ill. While Party Politics is getting challenged else were, here in Chicago, it goes from strength to strength. Between the fear of booze and philosophy, and the denial that neither can't be stopped by law or force, the streets are going to run Red with blood here in Chicago, January 16th 1920, and that's great for a coterie of young vampires like yourselves. Game: Homebrew Playtest Extravaganza System: A homebrew with the placeholder title of "Descent" from a considerably earlier incarnation, it'll almost certainly get changed into something more pretentious soon enough. Format: IRC, irc.thisisnotatrueending.com OR xen.thisisnotatrueending.com on ports 6667 or 9999, #Descent. I can be reached here via PM or on Discord at PurpleXVI#3509 Players: 3-4, hoping for a game that runs every monday evening or wednesday evening(EU times) for about 4 hours, depending on what lines up as most appropriate for everyone else. Description: Hi, I'm working on a homebrew and Ettin said it was okay to recruit playtesters here. Currently my hope is to get 3 to 4 players who're willing to whip up some starter characters and slam their heads against the combat system while helping me figure out what's broken, what's fun, what's unfun, which skills are overpowered, which skills are underpowered, what needs clarification, etc. generally what playtesting is all about. Likely transitioning into an actual campaign to test out the overworld travel rules, non-combat stuff and "economy" once it gets that far. The elevator pitch for the game is essentially that I got tired of games where success was entirely down to the game's hardcoded probabilities, with players being unable to invest in rolls that were important to them, so everyone has resources to spend to improve their odds both in and out of combat, and the core gameplay is to a certain extent about managing these resources, as recovering them consumes both time and, indirectly or directly depending on the situation, money. All classes also operate more or less on the same, skill-heavy system, so no class is left as the "just attack!"-class. Secondly, I got tired of the fact that most games were either HYPERDETAIL HEX/GRID COMBAT or "ehhhhh, whatever, theater of the mind, he's over there somewhere." And tried to find a happy middle ground, abstracting combat positioning but still making it part of the combat mechanics. The intended positioning is really a slightly more elaborate version of what you get in Darkest Dungeon, and a lot of combat mechanics interact with positioning, either shifting it around, reacting differently based on enemy locations or similar. Setting-wise, there isn't much in familiar with standard fantasy, no elves, no dwarves, no other standard demihumans. The game is set some years after a major cosmological/metaphysical catastrophy that's left most of the setting's known world(somewhat similar to the real-world Roman Empire, the disaster was essentially precipitated by a slave/colonial uprising against them) decimated in terms of population, governance, infrastructure and knowledge, paving the way for players to act as explorers, profiteers amid the chaos, etc. whichever way their moral and entertainment compasses happen to spin.

Game: A witty Christmas pun System: 4e DnD - reskinned to helllll Players: 5-6, recruiting here and on my Discord channel Blurb: On the night of December 25th 2018, an event occurred. A portal through space and time opened up in Auckland New Zealand, linking --planet and people-- to our world. This event not only created a route through which some travel is possible, but the energies unleashed at the opening end caused untold havoc on planet earth. All living creatures have been frozen in time, statuesque parodies of their former selves. This in turn was met by animation of many things in the world once considered without life. Inanimate objects come to consciousness. Birthing an unexpected and savage society where things once thought tools, toys and interior decor now struggle and fight to find their place in the new chain of life. The heroes, knowing no different, find themselves visiting a world seemingly in constant warfare and turmoil, looking to find a chance for peaceful co-existence with their new cosmic neighbours. This will be a 4th Edition DnD (reskinning a LOT obviously) live game using Fantasy Grounds and Discord for voice chat/organisation. This will be played 1-3 sessions per month, ideally on weekends but due to my shift-work I will need to organise each month's sessions based on that schedule. Times will be https://a.chronus.eu/188DE88 or https://a.chronus.eu/188E02C on the days we do play. I will ideally want 5-6 people, and games will go ahead with 4/x present on the days. Alternative version of this setting will be PCs being members of the animated creatures finding their way in the confusing new world, having been just granted the gift of sentience. We will decide which of these as a group, as I cannot choose for myself. Use the above link to Discord to drop in and say hello and submit a character idea.
