is this the right place to share the political take of my wife's coworker? he hates the democrats and how they treated bernie sanders, who he likes. he says the establishment dems hate bernie bc they (the democrats) are communists while bernie is only a socialist. he's got 2 years of postgraduate education and his job pays six figures

yeah that’s common enough but still a bit distressing. like shouldn’t you have developed some amount of critical reasoning along the way? some feel their position or mastery of one topic is transitive to others and don’t bother to check themselves, or are just dumb as gently caress to other matters like Ben Carson or w/e

I've heard a lot of people, especially older people, use "communist" to mean "Stalinist" and "socialist" to mean "social democrat," though. Including one Bernie Sanders.

well most of america describes social democracy by just the word "socialism" (maybe 3-5 times over 20+ years have i heard my country described more precisely)... it becomes kind of a self-reinforcing but i would expect sanders to know the correct definitions, but also know to choose the correct word for the audience.
