Chinston Wurchill posted:Have they mentioned what will happen with the tag titles? No, luckily it's the tag league now anyways, so no need to worry about defending them for a bit. It sounds like she's basically psycho about wanting to wrestle so I'm worried that she won't let it actually heal, but whatever hope it works out. She's my fave in the whole dumb rear end company.

Some info on Utami's injury vs Natsupoi's injury, since I have the same thing Poi has: Utami's injury: The cervical spine is the C1-C7 vertebrae in your neck that protect your spinal cord. Between them are shock-absorbing discs with a rubbery exterior and a gel-like squishy interior, so the bones don't all grind on each other. Any impact on your neck or head compresses the discs, but on a heavier hit sometimes the rubbery part can crack or rupture. If the gel part gets pushed out through the rupture it's a herniation, which compresses the shitload of nerves in the gaps between the vertebrae, and also makes your neck less able to absorb impact until it heals. In Utami's case, it was likely caused by a single bad impact, or a series of them within a short period without time to heal up in between. Symptoms depend on which disc is injured - upper cervical nerves are head/neck movement, lower cervical nerves are chest/arms. It heals naturally with time and/or therapy, and hopefully won't have long term effects. Natsupoi's injury: Degenerative Disc Disease is wear & tear on one or more cervical discs at an abnormally higher rate (though "disease" is kind of a misleading term). It usually happens in your 40s and beyond, but Poi's still in her 20s, so it's likely the other big reason people get DDD: If you had a prior herniation that was never treated or never healed properly. High-impact sports will also speed that process up, especially if you're smaller and have a thinner neck, because the muscles aren't as strong to support everything. The surgery fuses the two vertebrae above and below the injured disc so it can't squish anymore, and often limits range of motion a bit. She likely won't need surgery for another several years if she protects herself and gets regular treatment, but given her style and Stardom's general love of neck murder, I'm not optimistic on how long she can hold that off. My personal experience with DDD: I had some whiplash-related neck trauma when I was about 15 that didn't heal quite right. Ever since then I've had to periodically crack or crane my neck to relieve pressure. 10 years later it started causing regular soreness, and 10 years after that it started causing numbness and debilitating tension headaches. An x-ray showed significant narrowing between my C3-C4, but also revealed a buildup of scar tissue inside the back of my neck. So whenever there's a problem in that area now, the disc has no place to move due to the scarring, and compresses the nerves worse than just the narrowing normally would - I've had two incidents in the past 4 years where my neck and my left shoulder seized up for several days. I had to take muscle relaxers, have constant heat on me, and get physical therapy, and it was painful as gently caress. Fortunately that's rare, and I'll definitely need the fusion surgery eventually, but my stepdad just got it for the same thing and his range of motion hasn't been affected that much. But I know some wrestlers have gotten it for multiple discs and were never really the same after that, like Kurt Angle. Bonk fucked around with this message at 10:35 on Oct 9, 2023 |

Good Stardom show. Momo vs MIRAI was loving phenomenal. AZM/Saori was also really really good. It wasn't a short match but it was one of those ones where you feel like a few more minutes would have sent it into the stratosphere. Tam might have hosed her knee up too Oh yeah the Syuri/Mina UWF rules match was also great but it had this very abrupt ending like what you'd see in a real fight. It seemed intentional and I saw mixed reactions to it on Twitter. I think people around here will like it Crapple! fucked around with this message at 12:35 on Oct 9, 2023 |

agreed with brother Crapple. Mirai/Momo easily MOTN , AZM/Saori really good, and I really enjoyed Mina/Syuri including the finish. Didn't expect much with Tam/Natsuko so it met my lowered expectations. Good finishing stretch. Also interested to see where they go with Maika and the DDM turmoil + Maika going cuckoo from losing all the time like a loser

Yesterday NOAH did a show that was a completely unannounced card, Monday Magic. Notable for this threads interest because there was a Marvelous offer match, Mio Momono & Takumi Iroha vs Riko Kawahata & Yuu.

I'm finally all caught up with Stardom, including last night's pape. A lot of cool stuff happened. The pape was excellent and the Korakuen show was killer. Very happy about the 5* results. Super hype for the Tag League and the upcoming Halloween show but mostly for some of these storylines they started earlier this year to move forward

Stardom will be running a show the same day as Wrestle Kingdom that kicks off at noon. IWGP womens title will be defended on that show. There won't be any Stardom representation at Wrestle Kingdom itself. Expecting to do 110k ticket sales for 2023 All Star Grand Queendom on April 27 The Stardom show on the day of Wrestle Kingdom is going head-to-head with a TJPW show They're doing another Stardom X New Japan crossover show next year Crapple! fucked around with this message at 12:54 on Oct 10, 2023 |

Going head to head with the 1/4 TJPW Korakuen which is one of their big shows as well: I always figured that Stardom would try to do something on 1/4 at some point and TDC Hall makes sense. I feel like this will hurt TJPW but also if there's a day for both to run close to each other 1/4 is the day: you've got wrestling fans out and about, its a holiday day, also a bunch of foreigners. Lets see what the impact is on this is: perhaps people have already made plans for TJPW and won't change as well. All Star Grand Queendom is at the new Yokohama Bunka: first wrestling show in the building. Its a 5k seat building replacing the old Bunka: I suspect New Japan run there as well (fr the G1?).

yea ok posted:It's cool that Stardom has 10 jillion dollars in sales but Bushiroad won't upgrade their streaming service or provide real cameras for the house shows In fairness bushiroad has been losing money on wrestling overall because njpw had its market collapse. I'd expect infrastructure improvements with njpw profitable again. That said people online seem to think there is a 5 year contract in place pre-dating the bushiroad purchase which runs out in february 2024 with the provider of stardom world. Now most stuff like this is made up bullshit but stardom does leak a fair bit so idk Guess we will find out in a few months time

Stardom really needs to lighten the schedule and/or hire more people. The injuries are adding up and anyone who isn't out for a while is wrapped up in tape like a mummy I respect wrestlers for pushing themselves as performers but this is getting ridiculous and it's not worth it

They run so many PPVs because people buy them: I don't think that's going to change. I think its two things: firstly that they run shows at a consistent rhythm (I assume because weekend shows draw better) rather than touring like NJPW do and male Japanese companies traditionally did (AJW didn't and instead ran 300+ shows a year but they aren't a model to copy): and the wrestlers still mostly being from an era where they company they started in was an indy so you mostly worked the same on every show and didn't pick your spots. I wouldn't really want people half-arsing 5 Star matches but people sometimes do stupid things in a random tag which you probably don't need to do: and Stardom 100% could give consistent time off between tours in they could. At the strategy thing earlier on it came up and it sounds like next years 5 Star will be shorter in terms of time: good for everything I think although it might simply condence a tough tournament into a shorter period rather than reducing workloads. Lets see how they do things...
