While I know it isn't the accepted wisdom I thought the big thing with Feinstein is that she was on the judiciary committee and a replacement Senator would probably not be, and the Republicans would likely think the Judiciary Committee could continue just fine with one fewer Dem, because then they could just stop Biden from appointing judges. I believe there were actual quotes on the matter from Rs
