It is clear though that Vin Diesel has some idea of what made F&F movies successful and XXX3 appears to be an attempt to replicate that. Instead of a lone wolf, Xander now has his own multiethnic team of badasses.

Well, "uncle" and "niece," but still looks really cringeworthy in the same way I Am Sam did. Nothing worse than a smarmy handjob to the joys of down to earth, old-fashioned parenting against the sinister forces of "edjumacation" and "proper child rearing," especially one that does not think to ever explain the stakes to the child character in question and let them make their own loving decision, imagine that...

I'm with you on the first part, but this really depends on how old/mature the kid is. It's difficult to apply universally because kids are so susceptible to manipulation and influence from loved ones in battles like these. I've heard 11 years old as a magic number in some places.

I hope the film ends abruptly when someone finally points out that a middle ground exists between having a kid who can do square roots in her head sit, bored out of her mind, through lessons on single-digit addition and forcing her to spend sixteen hours a day prepping for a career doing codebreaking for the NSA. You can be a gifted kid and still have friends and poo poo, spending the same amount of time on schooling, just with different textbooks.

I've been cynical about a sequel to this, especially since it's been in development hell for years and years, but when Born Slippy kicked in I was loving down.

It's a good trailer & I WANT to be pumped for this but the inner cynic in me just can't overcome the willing suspension of disbelief that the majority of these characters wouldn't be alive 20 years later.

Looks like it might actually sorta follow the plot of Porno at least a bit, which isn't a bad sign...looks kinda stylish. Hopefully all of the updated social/technological/wahtever commentary isn't too hamfisted. I won't hold out a lot of hope for it since Danny Boyle hasn't done a lot that has thrilled or impressed me lately, but if Filth could be good then maybe this'll end up okay.

We're all going to experience changes in our life but only the best of us will qualify for front row seats.

I'm not really feeling both those "bullet flying in slow motion" sequences, they feel very much like the kind of thing you saw when they started bringing 3D movies back. I hope they're just a victim of editing for a trailer.

Looks like DC is finally taking the complaints that their movies need to lighten the gently caress up to heart a little bit, still trying to root for them but I just don't think that DC has any idea what they're really doing with their cinematic universe.
Shame, I love DC comics and want good DC movies but it just feels like they've been trying to replicate the Nolan films and failing miserably.

This looks just as overly noisy, reliant on cataclysmic action sequences, and light on actual coherent plot as their other 3 films unfortunately.

Wonder Woman's actual theme is still pretty neato though.

They knew exactly what they were doing, unfortunately it vehemently pissed off enough people with blogs and media jobs that they spend 3 straight months frothing about it. So now they are in a transition.

Snyder's films aren't trying to replicate Nolan, and tbh that is kind of meaningless criticism anyway. The first Nolan Batman is an unabashed power fantasy, the third refutes it, they have many more humorous moments then Snyder's films, etc etc etc.

BTW I absolutely love your avatar.

Yeah, I meant that they're trying to replicate the really dark tone but also missing the other crucial aspects of the Nolan films.
Which was definitely the corny and very comic book humor, they actually knew when to crack a joke every now and then and not have everyone be so doom and gloom all of the drat time except when it was appropriate.

Likely just me being so used to Marvel movies that I can't not compare them to the DC ones and also miss the humor and light heartedness.

And thanks.

All I wanted from the Wonder Woman trailer was one line-- one piece of spoken dialogue-- that didn't sound like generic action movie tripe that could've been said in any one of a hundred trailers for a hundred movies that have been released over the last ten years.

I didn't get it until the very end of the trailer, but at least I got it. At least I got something that will allow me to Keep Hope Alive for this movie. :unsmith:

That scene, the one where Diana is coming out of the trench, and the one where she's crashing thru a window still need a lot of work done. 7 months until it's released though, so no biggie.

I did not recognise Lucy Davis, all I knew was that I knew that voice. Hope she's in it a lot - if that character is written in a non-cringeworthy way it could do a lot for the film.

I feel like trailers should just include this information these days. It seems every trailer, especially big blockbusters, is immediately judged as a final product.

I guess. It's just silly seeing everyone point out bad CGI in a trailer when at this point most people who are posting about these trailers online are aware that CG is usually getting touched up for as long as a studio can.
