This teaser doesn't really illuminate a whole lot and there's a lot of N words in here so it's NSFW, but I heard first hand that this was an absolutely breathtaking documentary. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5ZeLuVHTbg

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4VmJcZR0Yg Ghost in the Shell trailer, A couple of scenes from the film obviously, one that looks like it's from the TV show + a Depeche Mode cover. The bit with the serving robots going crazy was the TV show right?

Jesus, GitS looks way worse than I possibly could have imagined. It's a generic action movie with a hero that doubts herself. Which is not Ghost in the Shell at all.

Oof, I really want to like what that trailer is doing, but none of it looks good at all. Seems like it's supposed to be filled with striking images, but none of them land.

Looks to me they nailed the visual style as good as we could have realistically hoped for, it's really going to depend on if they made a cliche marketing trailer, or a trailer about a cliche movie based on better source material.

I haven't seen Ultraviolet, but I have seen its trailer, and it looks nothing like the GitS trailer. edit: I'm getting way more vibes of Inception, honestly. K. Waste fucked around with this message at 18:55 on Nov 13, 2016 |

K. Waste posted:I haven't seen Ultraviolet, but I have seen its trailer, and it looks nothing like the GitS trailer. I've seen Ultraviolet, and it doesn't look anything like the trailer. The visuals look solid since they're basically 1:1 translation from the anime, but I'm not keen on the major "finding herself" narrative.

I don't know anything about GitS, which might be the reason that I like the trailer a lot. No expectations based on loving the source material. edit: The original movie seems to be on Youtube. Time to watch it. Jack's Flow fucked around with this message at 22:22 on Nov 13, 2016 |

As a fan of the original 95 anime film, the trailers showcase pretty much the best I could probably have imagined for a live-action adaptation. From an aesthetic/visual standpoint, they nailed it for me. Everything looks great. Holding out that they don't deviate too much from the source material, but otherwise I'm happy to see some iconic scenes given the big-budget, Hollywood treatment. Johansson looks good as the major too

People are gonna be divided on the expectations of this movie. I know some people like the philosophy wankery in the GITS series but I think it's so overwrought and boring. The things I liked the best from the show was the future landscape, the detailed robot-stuff and the Major being a badass in a few scenes. Which this trailer seems to be focused on

The first movie looks pretty good, but the villain and the philosophy stuff end up kinda meh. It's still solid if you want to look at cool cyberpunk aesthetics. I like the tv series better, it's almost like the mission impossible tv series but with an ongoing arc. Also the type of ideas the show explores are more interesting. Both are worth a watch, just avoid the second movie.
