Yeah I dunno but my feeling is that if I murdered someone, stole a military vehicle and then drove it at high speed toward the Mexican border... while being potentially armed and dangerous... ahh..

https://heavyleatherblog.wordpress.com/2018/01/23/laibach-pepe-redlondon/quote:In a recent article for the Guardian, columnist Rafael Behr wrote about the strange dissonance in finding lifelong anti-capitalist John McDonnell making the case for a reformed version of social democracy at the Word Economic Forum at Davos, Europe’s largest conference of financiers, bankers and other pillars neoliberalism. Yet for anyone following John McDonnell’s aesthetic journey from revolutionary firebrand to concerned bank manager, this won’t come as any kind of surprise. Behr goes on to accuse followers of the Labour leadership of adhering to a form of vague anti-capitalism born of scepticism of corporate power but lacking any firm ideological demands for its replacement.

So I'm reading Capital because it's more interesting than anything I'm actually supposed to be doing, and in chapter three Karl puts a lot of emphasis on the money commodity needing to exist as a commodity in itself, namely as gold or silver. How important does this end up being to his overall argument, and has there been an attempt by Marxists to address this in the post-gold-standard era?

How important does this end up being to his overall argument, and has there been an attempt by Marxists to address this in the post-gold-standard era? It's not that important and doesn't need much adjusting. Marx describing the commodity form of money as necessary for there to be money, was informed by the state of capitalism as he observed it in the UK. Capital is a descriptive analysis of capitalism as it was. It doesn't take that much adjusting, because instead of using commodities as a monetary base now we base money on the credit of the issuing government or institution. The important thing of Marx's monetary theory is how money facilitates commodity exchanges and the accumulation of capital.
