Speaking of, has anyone here played through ME3 with Moridin dead in 2? Apparently his replacement character is named after Patrick Weekes, (Paddok Wiks or some such) and is the most fleshed out of the replacement characters, but I've never had the pleasure. The only main characters I've had die in 2 are Tali and Miranda, and they just lead to a slightly expanded role for Orianna and Rana, irrespectively.

Yeah, that was a gag from John Dombrow, who took over Mordin duties in 3.

Patrick Weekes named a Spectre after him in a sidequest in revenge.

There'll 100 percent be a new Mass Effect within the next decade for two reasons

1. People know what Mass Effect is

2. You can sell it as "you know what Mass Effect is, now here's one that returns to the game's roots/charts a brave new course for the series" depending on what kinda game you wanna make

I can see when you are lying.

My guess is the first thing that comes out will be a remaster, because you could farm that to some small dev company and reap the benefits of people jumping on to replay on the latest console with 10.8 surround sound or whatever the best sound system is, all so you can re-listen to all the exciting conversations you've already had before.

No updates to gameplay of course

Yeah a combat update would be rad. Going from ME1 to ME2's combat feels great, and ME3's is just miles better.

If they wanted to be real bold, they'd do this:

ME1/ME2 remaster with ME3-style combat

ME3 "real ending" remaster with way improved graphics and animations, and a standard "congrats Shepard u beat the Reapers" ending which sets up:

Mass Effect 4: We're Sorry

Making ME1 play like ME3 would basically be making a new game. They’d probably just make a new game.

Just another day

After the ending shitshow and the bandaid EC there was supposed to be one more DLC. An end once and for all, if you will. Citadel actually released 1 year after the game, I was fuzzy on this but in the interim you got Leviathan and Omega, so a year is forgivable. I also suspect that everyone that wasn't involved in the ending felt like the fans were owed a bit of an apology, and they came through. Some people complain that Citadel is too fan service-y, but those people can go gently caress themselves.

You get access to this after Cerberus invades the Citadel, there's an email from Hackett that the Normandy should be brought in for some repair/maintenance and it shows up on the docking screen as Anderson's Apartment. Upon arrival you chat with Anderson himself, who says he wants to gift it to you as he's decided he wants to stay on Earth. This apartment is :krad: and you can't turn it down even if you wanted, though why anyone would do that is a goddamn mystery. We get a message from Joker that he wants to treat us to dinner at a swanky sushi restaurant, so after a thorough inspection we head over. Anderson's logs are kinda meh, and would add about another 10 minutes to the video so we skip 'em.

Upon arrival we engage in a little chit-chat and then discover Joker didn't send the message, he got a message from us. Then a high-strung Alliance intelligence officer named Brooks shows up and explains someone's been trying to hax0r our personal info. Then some mercs we've never seen before show up and start shooting up the place. We're in our civvies so our recharge is all hosed plus we only have a dropped pistol. It's a great pistol but it weighs a shitton and will gently caress your cooldowns something fierce since you aren't in armor. Brooks takes a bullet for us and then we fall through the fishtank floor. After taking out half the neon on the ward we fall onto a platform and have to get across the gap to a skycar lot where there's a landing pad to get picked up. There are a shitton of mercs between it and us, so we go about some killin', stealin', and readin' people's logs. Somehow I missed the best one which is a guy who owns a future crossfit studio and passes out from EXTREME PAIN YEAAAAAA after hurting himself.

We make it to the skycar lot and Liara is there. This will be either her or your LI (one and the same in our case) unless it's Traynor because Traynor never gets to leave the ship for some reason. There's a plot reason, but it's not revealed until later. We politely get told to gently caress off by a used car salesman and then our ride turns out to be full of badguys. Then motherfucking Wrex saves the day and we get him back in our party for at least a couple of minutes. I wasn't sure who showed up if he's dead (you monster), turns out it's James. Either way we have a bit of a fight and then Joker shows up with a shuttle to take us back to the apartment. More crew shows up and we figure out how to proceed while making small talk. Most everyone gives us poo poo for the fish thing though to be fair to us it's not like we shot the floor to get away, we just happened to be standing on it. There will be more fish jokes further down the road, and a drat good one too.

Shepard probably has quite a few templates. Cerberus, the various merc groups, negligent discharge, Krogan drink night, angry Vorcha, etc. Probably has a VI in her armor that auto-fills out the forms based on each bullet impact.

"Collectors, reaper troops, Cerberus troops, indoctrinated colonists... Wait, panicked colonist?"
Yeah, a survivor thought I was coming to get her and she emptied half a magazine into my barrier. She made it to the shuttle and got off planet.
"Wait, someone shot you and you DIDN'T kill them? How often does that happen?"
Once ever few weeks. What can I say, I am a bullet magnet.

As long as all your friends are there any kind of party is the best party.

Edit: I think the beginning of Citadel is really the weak part. New gun, no armor, new (optional-ish) mechanic with no real way to practice or get better but it only lasts for a bit so eh.

Wrex in effect

Oh look, an update! Sorry about the delay, I gots all kind of poo poo going on.

After we took a trip through a fishtank we had our superspy GF take a look into the gun we found and get some answers. It's traced back to a casino owner on the Citadel who is a moron because when you have a license to steal legally you should supplement that income with illegally smuggling weapons. Roping our new friend Brooks into helping we attend a swanky fundraiser at said casino and have to hax0r our way into his safe room. Instead of, y'know, just using our Spectre status to walk in and interrogate him, safe room and security be damned.

There are a lot of fun conversations to be had here but in the interest of expediency I only choose a few. We catch up with our old hooker consort friend a bit, and for some reason missed out on a part of the conversation. She says she was worried her prophecy for us hadn't been correct because we died but no, she was right. And her flag is bugged much like Conrad's in 2. You can gamble too, though if you're going to do that might as well just wait for later on when you're not getting interrupted. When we finally make it in Khan's already been dealt with by someone so we rip the HDD out of his computer so EDI can look at it.

The next mission is back to more shooting and has a fantastic gimmick along with some of my favorite dialogue in the series in part because of in-jokes and callbacks and also it's just drat funny. It'll also make for a much longer video instead of just splitting it up, but imo the best parts of Citadel aren't this storyline anyway.

I? Should go?

Where I feel the DLC really kicks it into gear. More in-jokes than you can shake a stick at.

Back at the apartment we get a little more info on our mystery adversaries and discover they're headed for the archives. You still pick a regular squad but this time everyone else gets to tag along too. This makes for a hell of a lot of banter. Good stuff too, but you do run into the problem of people getting cut off before it moves onto the next witty interaction. We break in because that's more fun than walking through the front door. Immediately we're thrown in the poo poo and we meet our shadow rival. HOLY poo poo A CLONE TIM made a backup copy which he immediately forgot about (like seriously, why wouldn't you use that instead of shitninja?) and she's a little cranky about the whole thing. She's got a plan to commit ID theft and bails leaving her less-than-stellar mercs to deal with. Needless to say they don't fare very well against us.

Then it's a sort-of chase through the archives trying to catch up. You get lots of shooting, more silly banter and muthafuckin' Wrex back in action. Also Mako vs Hammerhead burns, everyone vs Shepard burns, and a general jolly good time. Then we overextend ourselves and get trapped in a bank cylinder. Turns out Brooks isn't Brooks at all, but some ex-Cerberus who decided that TIM wasn't nearly specist enough and woke up our unwilling organ donor. They don't do a very good job though and we break out after Shep reflects on her poor longstanding choice of ending a conversation. I love Wrex here, "I just thought it was some weird human custom." Then we get have to pick a squad so we can stop the Normandy being stolen.

The comments during this mission are pretty drat funny, too bad a lot of them get cut off. Liara will tell Glyph to lower their morale and he'll make comments about the low likelihood of survival, others will chip in about how much CAT-6 sucks, you have the mercs lamenting their lack of krogans, all in all really good stuff. There's some extra hilarious bits in the next video where we wrap up the story part of the DLC. After that is when things really get fun.
