So according to Steam I've logged 304 hours of playtime in New Vegas in the past. It's been uninstalled for a good while now and I'm wondering if there are any new mods that make the game worth yet another playthrough. I want something different enough to warrant it but not something like JSawyers mod as I don't like playing on Hardcore (and I'm missing the pre-order DLC and Gunrunners Arsenal). Is Beyond Boulder Dome any good? Are there any other big mods that are missing from the OP that are worth a try?

Beyond Boulder Dome, Slave Town Ep1 and 2, Project Brazil, The City, and Radiant Flux are the only big quest mods released or still being developed that the OP doesn't have or have been announced I think.

I'll throw out an endorsement for Deimos. It relies a bit too heavily on having you ping-pong back and forth fetching poo poo, but it's very impressive technically and the voice acting is decent.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or what, but I have reputation for places I haven't even been and places that shouldn't be hostile are. I have a new character and so far I've made it down to the Mojave Outpost. According to my stats screen I'm liked in Freeside, I'm liked in Primm, and neutral to the NCR. I've never been to Freeside with this character and even though it says I'm liked in Primm, I was immediately hostile to all the townsfolk. Deputy Beagle even turned hostile after I rescued him and he returned to the Vikki & Vance casino. The NCR outpost across the bridge was also hostile. I had no idea anyone was hostile (besides the obvious Powder Gangers) since I had gotten into Primm from the back side as I was coming from the prison and had followed the tracks. So I arrived in Primm and immediately cleared out the Bison Steve Hotel, rescued the deputy, cleared out the rest of the Powder Gangers around town, and all the townsfolk (including the newly rescued deputy) are immediately hostile upon me entering the casino. Since I'm playing a real mean son-of-a-bitch I decided to just roll with it and I killed everyone. Then I went across the bridge and killed everyone there too since they were hostile. Despite all this killing though I only got one message telling me I lost some rep with the NCR. In the stats screen I'm still listed as neutral. I continued south and arrived at the Mojave Outpost and everyone is hostile towards me. I threw on a NCR disguise and everyone immediately stops. I go into the bar and Cass is immediately hostile to me disguise or no. So that's where I'm at right now. I have this sinking feeling that it's going to be like this everywhere I go which is just a tad bit ridiculous. With the Alternate Start mod I had chosen "Sheriff" character history and the "I Hate The World" character mindset which gave me -750 karma to start with (My karma is now Very Evil by this point). The Sheriff history didn't affect reputation or karma or anything like that, just gave me some minor boosts in combat related skills. Does having Very Evil karma just make everyone hate you? Yeah, I'm playing an rear end in a top hat, but up until wiping out Primm, I hadn't done anything except wander the area a bit killing Powder Gangers. I even helped out Goodsprings. Here's my load order, everything that isn't check is merged into the bashed patch. quote:[X] FalloutNV.esm Proletarian Mango fucked around with this message at 19:30 on Sep 9, 2012 |

Swartz posted:So according to Steam I've logged 304 hours of playtime in New Vegas in the past. You can't really trust those counts. They never seem to match up to in-game statistics, I've found. For example I just finished I Am Alive (amazing game btw) at just under 6 hours, using only about a dozen retries, yet Steam thinks I've played the game for thirty hours. Anyway does anyone know if there's a mod that disables shooting off heads? I'm fine with all the other gore but heads popping off like barbie dolls just looks so drat goofy to me.

By the way, we may be able to replace the existing Roleplay Start mod in the OP with this new one that seems to be far more expanded and actively developed. It's currently the number 1 FOTM on Nexus this month and it seems like it does a lot more. I haven't checked it out myself, but I've downloaded it and plan on using it for testing purposes to bypass the very tiring Doc Mitchell intro now.

Maybe that unique wall, but first something to make crafting with the Ammo Master much smoother. Endymion FRS MK1 posted:Bug that I ran into was creating .308 HP was impossible. Man Whore posted:Does anyone know what mod adds Hard wood logs, and what they're used for? You also seem to have both instances of LPAM loaded, including the one for JSawyer, but you don't seem to have JSawyer. Using the JSawyer version won't break the game (JSawyer.esp isn't flagged as one of its masters) but it would seem to add a bunch of broken and imbalanced armors to the game, since they're made for JSawyer's settings and not vanilla settings.

I haven't been keeping up with this thread for the past few weeks, and as such missed quite a few people asking this question. As someone who played through the mod, let me repost my thoughts from the main New Vegas thread: Acebuckeye13 posted:Has anyone else tried out Beyond Boulder Dome? I played through it recently, and I have to say I as really disappointed. It's clear that a lot of effort went into the mod, and I spent a lot of time playing through it... but my god, it's just BAD. Almost entirely linear, maybe two merchants (Neither of which sells any significant amount of ammo), very few skill checks of any kind (Not a single speech check, IIRC), some extraordinarily poor level design, story is almost entirely "Work with the NCR (And kill everyone in the Dome)" or "Work with the Brotherhood of Steel (And be the hero by curing the dreaded Seltsam Syndrome)", and most aggravatingly, the god drat NCR Death Squads. I went in at level 18 and not only are they automatically hostile, but all but a few of them are armed with Marksman's Carbines. (The few that aren't have Anti-Material Rifles and are stationed at the tops of buildings where you can't get to them without toggling noclip.) And here's my following post regarding the ending: Acebuckeye13 posted:This is for the Brotherhood of Steel ending. I'll probably get around to the NCR ending at some point, but at this point I have absolutely no interest in going anywhere near Colorado ever again. In short, it's not really all that fun, and the ending is just Not even that much loot, beyond the literal mountain of Marksman's Carbines I pulled off of the hordes of NCR death squads. Heeeeeeeeey... Our model may not be as appropriate as this new one, but TA's had exploding bolts and a huge variety of craftable crossbow bolts that do different effects for well over a year now with our crossbow. I'd say some effort was put into that

Needs poison bolts (would be easy to do, I guess, if you borrowed code from the rubber shotgun shells or the flamethrowers).

By effort I meant the kind shown on the Nexus sites. Granted goon mods are on an echelon not attainable by mortal mods. So I felt it went without saying, and not because I'm a stupid asshat. So I'm starting up New Vegas again and installing mods anew for that new, fresh feeling, and I've noticed that I still have a copy of "Operation Fixed Terrain," which is basically a bunch of "moved a rock 4 feet to the left so it isn't halfway in a wall" without any of the bullshit that NVEC is loaded with. It got pulled from Nexus at some point due to some ridiculous drama or whatever (I googled it a bit but I still don't know what's up) and it doesn't seem to be available anywhere else, so I put it on the Internet in case anyone wants to grab it.
