I reset them all ages ago whenever the last overhaul happened, so everything that should be is still slotted.

Not taking up actively playing again since you know, endgame bland unless the dino zone makes a major comeback. Only checking out the new bit out of curiosity.

Could be a whole slew of factors not related to your spaceship. How long of a hiatus did you take ? Do you have to repick all your skillpoints ? What does your ship setup look like ? BOFF powers ? Just for giggles you could take a screenshot of your ship setup, post it here, then get into the goon channel in game if you are not there already.

If you haven't been playing for a while you probably have the skills of a level 1 since they all got unspent when they overhauled the skill system so start there. Also yeah they raised max level to 65 and scaled enemies up with it so if you haven't been keeping up with the power creep that's going to be a pain as well. Struggling with frigates sounds like you need to redo your skills though.

The last time I played was shortly after launch. I've assigned my skill points (I don't think I could even kill a frigate before doing I did), picked a couple of specialisations that sounded kinda useful (Pilot / Command on my Tac), and messed around with some traits. I've tried to get some Mk XII gear and fix my BOff skills a little too.

That gear can be upgraded to Mk XV. That will help a lot, but so will fixing your bridge officer loadout.

For your Tactical seats, you’ll want Tactical Team 1, Beam Fire at Will 1 and Attack Pattern Beta 1. Normally you should be slotting the highest rank of FAW, but tactical space on the Ambassador is at a premium.

Science, you want Hazard Emitters 1, Science Team 2 and Gravity Well 1. The first two are a hull heal and a shield heal, the third is good for grouping up and damaging clusters of bad guys.

Engineering, this ship has way too many loving slots. For the Commander seat, I guess go Emergency Power to Engines 1, Engineering Team 2, Emergency Power to Weapons 3 (you’ll need to buy it on the Exchange) and Reverse Shield Polarity 3 (ditto). For the Lieutenant slot, go Structural Collapse 1 (use it on big targets) and Auxiliary to Dampeners 2 (general movement buff to keep you mobile).

I don’t even know where to start with your gear beyond saying that four loving torpedos are four too many loving torpedos. Go all beam arrays and broadside.

Thanks (to everyone that posted)! I've just fixed up most of my officer slots and started the process of upgrading my gear. All but one of my beam weapons are Mk14 now (one even made it to Ultra Rare), which is a start. It occurs to me that I should probably farm Omega molecules, but :effort:

Just to clarify, are you suggesting Beta II or Omega I (for Lt Cdr Tac)?

I've got two: an Automated Defense Turret and a Phaser Relay (Mk12).

Looking at my account, I think I'll have enough Zen to buy a T6 ship soon-ish. Is the Arbiter a good pic, or have things moved on since the OP? I notice the Paladin can be had for 1400 in the pack at the moment, even if it looks kinda ugly.

My advice about z-store ships is current. The Paladin's good, so if you want it go for it. In my opinion the Arbiter is better, but there's not much between them (better starship trait, mainly).

the Arbiter (and its KDF/Romulan variants) have the best starship trait ingame for energy weapons

Yeah get the Arbiter. Paladin is a great ship but the Arbiter unlocks a trait you will want to slot on pretty much everything.

Kovalian posted:

I was suggesting Beta 1 since I’m pretty sure the Ambassador only goes up to Lieutenant Tactical. If there’s a Lt Com seat, I’d be going FAW3/APB1/TAC Team.

arbiter's super solid.

Ditch the defense turret and drop on another phaser relay. Get rid of the torps and add more phasers. Circle strafe your enemies to death.

Pick a damage type and equip all beams of that damage type. Fill your tac console slots with tac consoles that boost that damage type. Set your weapon power to 100. You are now better than half the pubbies in this game.

I'd remove those two points in the lt. science tree (the ones that boost shields) and put them into the two engineering ones at commander level that increase your hull resists vs kinetic and physical damage as torpedo damage scaling of NPCs past level60 is borked af

as for milestones, in engineering you want battery expertise (unless you fly a carrier) for the first tier and +hull capacity for the next one
in science the sector space travel speed
in tactical its threat control, projectile crit chance, energy weapon crit chance and the last one is up to you, usually you pick accuracy if you fly cannon ships

Any of you used the Tetryon based Tzenkethi Lobi weapon set at all ? I run Tetryon dual beams as primary damage output on my main guy & it looks like a decent set to have. Also with the 50% off I can actually afford a ship, and I already have a Paradox dread, so the Klein Temporal destroyer is looking like a distinct possibility.

They seem to be really pushing flash sales even more heavily than normal this month. A promo ship rerun is usually one of their 'big gun' cashgrabs (the mania around the T6 Connie is one of their biggest cashcows), and this lobi discount is bigger than ever before.

I wonder if there is a special reason this time. Are they missing their internal monthly sales targets?

Punters want Enterprises, Defiants and stuff because they liked the old shows. STD is basically a bomb so the purchase demand of STD in-game products is simply going to be that much lower.
