I thought it was going to take forever, and I’d have to deal with low ballers for a while, but I posted the ad at 11pm at night and had cash in hand by 1pm the next morning. The guy came by at 8am to test drive it and put a deposit down to hold it for him.

I posted it for $5000 with two sets of wheels and got $4800 for it. Just bought a 2004 Honda 919 this morning with half the fat wad of cash :getin:

First bike, Picked it up today.

Seems to get stuck in neutral when at a standstill. But only did 3miles, so might sort itself out.

That’s somewhat normal. Sometimes you have to let the clutch out to get the trans spinning, pull it back in and then shift. Depends on the design of the trans and clutch

drat that thing looks sweet as gently caress. Also thats normal, motorcycle transmissions can be finicky especially when not moving. With the moto guzzi it helps to let the clutch out ever so slightly when shifting from neutral to first gear, especially when its cold, its muscle memory at this point.

ERM... Actually I have stellar scores on the surveys, and every year students tell me that my classes are the best ones they’ve ever taken.
I can't figure out how big they are. They look small, like SYM 150-sized. Can you post a picture of it with a person next to the bike?

I would but it was gone in the afternoon. I'd say it was like a small ninja. Not as low as a Grom or anything but definitely not as tall as my MT-10.

Kinda small. wheelbase is 2m. Will try and get a photo with me next to it this week.

I’ve seen smaller women on them, and they look normal sized. Put a 6’ something dude on there and they start to look comical.

It’s now a Chitalian brand I think. I think Most of the bike is made in China (there’s a lot of Chinese qc stickers on mine) for the Italians, but the engine is a derbi/piaggio (on the 125 at least).

Facial hair is inspected at the same time registration is filed. If your mustache fails to meet the standards, you're given two weeks for a re-test, after which the sale is terminated.

While zipping through backwoods near Asiago, Veneto, Italy, we took a definite wrong turn. Pavement eventually ran out, and we found ourselves on of the supply "roads" from WW1. The sand was loose, and the Ninja and VFR struggled to stay upright. However, despite my bitching, we proceeded onwards.
I took this picture about half a mile into the dirt road after it got narrower and narrower.

After a mile or two, distance being hard to calculate on a narrow cart path, we come to a clearing. It's a wide valley with nothing but cows, sheep, horses, and goats free roaming. And two road signs, and one single house for miles and miles.

It is me, standing in front of the only form of civilization seen for an eternity.

We push forward. On the cart path again, in middle of tall trees, a rock fall flows down. We carry biggest stones off the road incase another person wanders here in the following decade.

We finally arrive to an edge of a sort. Without realising it, we are very high up, thousands of feet. Witness our path:

After what felt like forever, there is another clearing.
WIth no sign of any civilization, there is a park bench. Immaculate, obviously well kept one.

I am not being dramatic by saying the sights were the best I've ever seen, and no camera will do it justice ever.

Yet another loving park bench.

We eventually also found the peak, and there was an outlook with people there, and some sort of a storage building, and a coffee place.
It was more than three hours of riding, but luckily we had full tanks of fuel. Yet, my wrists hurt, my abs hurt, and I found out why we do not go off road with sports bikes. But I can say that I've now done the best motorcycle trip of my life. If only camera would capture it all in its glory.

High mounts for the 4th gen are still available from Delkevic including the midpipe. Not the greatest brand, but not bad, and very reasonably priced. They have a bunch of different cans to choose from (long, short, carbon, stainless, etc). Of course being carbed you'd probably want a rejet to go along with it.

Yeah I’ve been eyeballing a Delkevic for it, and the price is definitely right.

From what I’ve read a high mount calls for a rejet whereas one regularly mounted shouldn’t necessarily need one. And I really, really don’t want to gently caress with the carbs if I don’t have to, but what’s the point of a single sided swing arm if you aren’t showing it off.

For sure. Probably right on the high mount vs low mount and rejetting as these motors are more sensitive to header/midpipe length than diameter or exhaust choice. Really though, pulling the carbs on a 4th gen VFR isn't the nightmare that it's made out to be. The issue usually is that the carb boots are old and therefore hard as a rock. I had to carefully and slowly lever mine out with a piece of wood. If you replace the carb boots with newer softer ones and use a bit of silicone on them the carbs go back in easily. Nothing particularly tricky or special about the carbs themselves, just that there's four of them.

VFR was kept busy. Strada Provinciale 46 from Vicenza to Lake Garda. 84 kilometers of driving, time to complete: 2 hours and 30 minutes. Hairpin after hairpin, serpentine up and down.

We got out super early yesterday, 6:45 AM-ish. Snapped a pic of the bikes in the bourgeois chariot we got to drive them around in. We call it The Glacier.

8' box is big improvement over a 6.5' box. Nice to fit the ramp, bin of gear, and a cooler with lunch and beverages inline between the bikes and still have the gate up. Nice to also fit the bikes side by side without the handlebars interfering with each other like they did in the flareside. 10 cylinders is... pretty loving overkill but whatever, Fords have meteoric depreciation. At least it's quiet!

I told myself I wouldn't buy a new bike until September or October. I lied.

Picked up this 2015 FZ-07 this morning. It's very good.
All original, bought new as the previous owner's first bike, dropped every way it's possible to be dropped - but only 5000km on it, and dirt cheap.

One issue - rolling the throttle on or off feels pretty snatchy; it's harder to slip around at walking speed or to take off smoothly than on my old SV650. Would this be from too much slack in the throttle cable, or maybe a loose chain? Or did the SV just spoil me for the last few years

Jazzzzz
May 16, 2002
Check the cable slack, but Yamaha EFI fueling is almost universally snatchy. It varies from model to model and year to year but it's never smooth, ranging from tolerable to spastic. An ECU flash can fix it if one's available for that model and year.
