Seriously, 10,000mAh+ battery packs sell for like 10 dollars all the time and charge your other devices too. Might as well stick with a reasonable case, especially on a plus.

But then to actually use your phone whilst connected, you need to be holding a battery pack in one hand, your phone in the other, and the internal realisation that you look like an idiot. I can't over-recommend the Anker cases. They have decent capacity, they're very well made and have a great warranty and support record. They're also cheap. ghostinmyshell posted:I know Saddle Brown is the way to go, but I like battery cases. Does anyone have and like a mophie on their 6s plus? I need to upgrade soon but the amazon reviews for the 6s plus mophie make it seem like a real piece of poo poo. They don't however make one in the plus size, so you're stuck either paying an assload of money for one, going sketchy on Amazon products, or going battery pack. I can't give you an extended review of the mophie, but I have seen precisely one on a collegue's 6+ and it seems to have more than a little too much weight and doesn't have the same capacity as the better and cheaper 6/6S batteries. I'd avoid it. e: wait, you're killing a 6s+ in 3 hours? Doing what? You may want to investigate whether you're not just in possession of a faulty unit.

Put your phone away in your bag for an hour with the portable charger and it's plenty charged enough for whatever you might do. I legitimately don't know how someone manages to kill a 6S+ in 3 hours even sitting on it the whole time and avoiding any human interaction whatsoever. e: Wait do you even own a 6s+ or are you asking for the future?

You could just put the charger in your pocket or bag and run a small cable from it to your phone. I promise that people will understand exactly what's going on and if anything will be jealous of your savvy and forward thinking!

I have this 10,000mAh 3.1A portable charge pack which supports fast charging, charges my 6 to 100% ridiculously quickly and has been going strong for several months now. I'd definitely recommend one of those if you ever go anywhere where you aren't going to have access to a wall charger and you'll be using your phone a lot.

The goal zero stuff is pretty cool too. Good build quality and their solar panels are about as good as technology allows.. it takes about 8 hours of good sunlight to charge a 7800mah battery so you'll really only want to use the solar panel for topping off, but it's great for backpacking. Plus the battery charges just fine over usb so you can use it like a normal battery.

Sorry, for not making it clear about my current phone situation. Currently using a 5s with a mophie air and eligible for an upgrade finally so I started looking at the 6s/6s+. As for my hyperbole about the iphone lasting 3 hrs, when I was doing about five tradeshows a year demonstrating our video streaming service; the earlier iphones that I used were dead around noon. The app that I had to show off streams GPS location, video, audio from the phone's camera and microphone over the internet to our hosted servers sort of like Periscope. The app was poorly written and required the screen to be at max brightness while in use, tradeshow wifi is shared by many people if you don't have your own and constantly drops you. I could never get my phone charged because we had 20 other people at the booth all unplugging each others phones from the lone power socket we had available. Since I was the IT guy for the booth, I couldn't leave the area either in case something went wrong with a kiosk. When I finally got my 5s, I picked up a mophie, and the next couple of tradeshows were a more enjoyable affair. Sure my iphones battery still died before the end of the day, but then I could go to lunch and toggle the battery on in case someone needed to get a hold of me immediately. Last night I went to BestBuy and did get to check out the 6s+ with a mophie and thought yeah it sucks. $100 for 60% charge and it was definitely bulky. I even checked out the Saddle Brown cover, its actually very nice. Thanks for the input about the charge packs, I'll pick one of those up instead when I finally decide to upgrade my phone. They seem very reasonable for the price. ghostinmyshell fucked around with this message at 02:46 on Jan 20, 2016 |

If it stores the charge I could see it being very useful to basically cover my windows in solar panels while I'm at work and then use the stored energy to recharge my devices when I get home. dik-dik fucked around with this message at 03:06 on Jan 20, 2016 |

Yeah, that's pretty much the design. Use a solar panel to charge the battery, then the battery charges your crap. Solves the problem of solar panels giving wildly variable voltage too. You can also daisy chain solar panels.. which I don't need, but features are cool.

At $129 for a crappy little solar panel you would have to charge your phone around 10,000 times to make it worthwhile. The only practical use I can see is incredibly contrived because it would require -you're out away from power for multiple days (to make the bulk of the solar gear practical compared to just bringing another power bank) -you need to charge your phone every night -you get plenty of hours of sunshine -the solar charger won't get stolen while unattended during the day

Is it effortless/painless to update to the coming 9.3 public release if I sign up for beta releases and install the 9.3 beta? I've heard the beta is stable enough, but in the event that it isn't, I think I'll live a few more weeks until it comes out. I remember installing some other beta revision sometime in the past and had a bit of a time reverting to an earlier non-beta release, but I'm just interested in updating to the future update from the beta this time.

Are you bushwacking for like four weeks at a time? Every time I've hiked I just turn my phone on during the evening on airplane mode for music or an audiobook and even after like six days I still have around 80% remaining. How much does it weigh though? A 20000 mah charger is only 50 bucks and weighs only a little more than a pound. If you shave a bunch of ounces, and need your phone all the time for some reason, then I guess I get it.

They're a cool solution to no problem, like most "trekking" equipment you'll ever buy. I've seen people spend 3/nearly 4 figures on trekking/survival gear to go on what amounts to a glorified stroll, but they hear the word mountain and freak out and think of Alive when it's mainly this For basically any scenario, it's both better and cheaper to just carry batteries. e: for reference I have some experience with those panels. Wattages claimed are basically "Sahara desert at noon" and any glass in front of the panel drops the efficiency massively, so window / in-car charging is pointless. A power strip and/or something like the Anker PowerPort which gives you up to 10 USB ports to charge off of would seem a useful purchase for your company. I use a PowerPort 5 for my collection of USB powered gadgets at home.

I had an anker bt keyboard that wouldn't stay connected to my MBA, but works great on iPads and I left a negative Amazon review and they sent me an email like four hours later offering a refund and letting me keep the keyboard. So I bought a battery and USB hub from them as well. I think Anker is good and cool.

When I try to charge my iPhone 6 from my Macbook Air, it constantly acts as if it's getting unplugged and plugged in repeatedly. It basically goes crazy. I've tried both USB ports and 3 different official cables. What else could I try? Or are we not supposed to be able to charge from the computer?
