The Body and Big Brave have a collab hell yeah

First song off of it is called "Oh Sinner" and kicks rear end https://thebody.bandcamp.com/track/oh-sinner

It doesn't sound at all how I would expect it to

Thou and the body do not do it for me at all. screechy, noisy rear end. Reminds me of my lovely ex that listened to Holy Molar and The Locust. yugh.

Cough were in the same boat until I saw them open for windhand and then I kinda enjoyed it. the vocals are absolutely their weakest part.

I've seen the Body a ton of times but the funniest was when they played mid afternoon at a street fest. Small crowd of people who were really into it, much larger group that was very confused.

Both bands do a lot of collabs so their output is pretty varied. I don't like everything either band does, but in both cases when they hit for me they're really great.

At least we’re lucky enough to have napalm death, I was afraid nyc would be one of the shows where they’re traded out for Madball

Also I was just in a fancy little cheese store and the new guy had a metal longsleeve on so I had to ask who it was. It turns out he’s friends with Undeath from Rochester and they’re good:

Stand Alone Cheese in Jackson Heights, it’s a tiny but good little place. The redhead owner is more into talking about old hip hop I think, and the younger dude loves metal and video games.

I've listened to The Magnetic Ridge every day since it came out. Some times three times.

I think I like Hymns better when it comes to favourite songs but TMR is such a solid and complete album it's hard to ignore it. I can't not listen to it start to finish. The only criticism I can give it is that the mix is a little flat and the kick drum gets a bit fatiguing. Self recorded and produced so it's hard to be too critical.

Their EP is worth a spin too. Production is lacking but there's some fun poo poo in there.

The name just seems to be from the comic storyline, i posted here for the amount of sludge and doom/goth on the album and also i have a soft spot for sountracks by artists crossing random genre boundaries. I miss the 90s era of combining bands for soundtracks that have absolutely no connection st all which is how we got things like Filter and The Crystal Method.

Hoo yes. Big fan of 'Burn' off their Doubt EP.

Reminds me of GAUPA from Sweden which I got into earlier this year. Lends a bit more prog but they get thrown the doom/stoner tag a lot too. If you don't mind clean vocals, here's a live video of their flagship track:
