I'm usually a fan of J-Horror but did find the American remake of the Ring to be better than the original (and the only good remake), but Ring 2 was just a weird mess. Samara was scary enough in 2D, we don't need to bring that crawling out of the TV illusion to life Slasherfan posted:laser surgery I don't know, now that we've got weird Serbian torture porn and movies of people being turned into centipedes anything they put in those movies just doesn't seem like it could be that shocking anymore, but there's something that really bothers a lot of people about touching eyeballs. I could see (no pun intended) this being really uncomfortable to watch, especially in 3D.

bad movie knight posted:Also, is Dante 01 any good? IMDb rates it as 5.0, but it is a Marc Caro film about a mental institution at the edge of space... It's not bad. It reaches, and I think fails to grasp, at a higher meaning but it has some visuals to keep you engaged and claustrophobic. Some of the cast really helps sell it and a few others seem like mistakes. To be honest, it reminds me of a better Alien Resurrection in that it has some strong visuals from time to time and good ideas but doesn't have the script to match its ambitions. Of course, there were a handful of other problems affecting the other movie, but then again I'm not so solidly against it as most seem to be.

It's not like the remake broke any new ground, save for the inclusion of scientifically enhanced boobs. Right but I heard rumours that there was finally talk about having it in a winter setting. Something that has been on the top of my 'Jason want list' since they finally made FvJ.

Now that the rights for the songs they couldn't afford in the 80's are dirt cheap, if they were gonna do something like that they should put in the music they wanted and rescore the movies with lots of Men Without Hats and Steve Winwood and Genesis.

I just watched Stag Night which I thought was pretty decent. Could of been better but fun enough. The plot involves 4 guys out on a stag night taking a train to a strip joint. Something happens on train and they end up forcing the door open to get out at a closed down stop with 2 girls. Once there they find out the underground is full of cannibals out for blood. Not very original at all. My biggest complaint would be the camera shakes around a lot during the action scenes and chase scenes. It's already a confined dimly lit area, throw in shaky cam and you can't tell what the gently caress is happening sometimes. Also I find female leads better in these sorts of movies, don't know why but I do. It doesn't help that the guys argue alot. There are some good stalk scenes (Love the esculator opening bit) and some decent gore, it had a great head gag. I think it's worth a watch.

Joss Whedons and Drew Goddards Cabin in the Woods looks like it is finally going to be released. It's just had its rating announced as well as its release date. quote:Horror comedy The Cabin in the Woods, written by Joss Whedon, received an R rating for "strong bloody horror violence and gore, language, drug use and some sexuality/nudity." The 3D release is scheduled for Jan. 14, 2011 Website here. I am cautiously looking forward to this. The rating sounds like it might be good gory fun and Goddard worked on the better of the Buffy episodes so fingers crossed. edit: Nudity aside, you are all crazy. Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives is the best of the lot if only for the conversation the two kids have while hiding under the bed while Jason roams the campsite. 7 had the sleeping bag death. I like F13th 2 and 4 for that old "at camp" feel even though 4 took place at a house. 1 was stupid, but okay for what it was, 3 was annoying. 5 would have actually been a lot better were the kills not first person through 85% of the movie (why are we not seeing a masked face?). It was still drat funny. 6 was okay, I guess, 7 was a worse version of 6, 8 was kind of amusing but hurt by the editing and Jason teleporting, literally, everywhere (and the lack of New York if you were expecting that), I hate 9 and X, FvJ was hilarious, the remake was the only one where I thought a death was kind of "rough."

There are no bad F13s, just ones worse than others, like five and six. Anyway I'm watching Legion now and I love the concept and the ideas it puts up but the movie is a pretty paint by numbers "fortress horror/action" flick.

The humor timing and pacing was completely different between the two, the funniest thing about FvJ was Robert Englund, who wasn't in Jason X, and Jason X has the worst looking digital filming I've seen in a cinema release that just makes me mad while watching.

It doesn't take itself seriously and just has a good time. Awesome ridiculous deaths, everything looks great. I just love that one. I don't see how anyone can call these two bad when you are talking about a series that includes Jason Takes Manhattan (a.k.a. Jason on a Boat). The book Crystal Lake Memories is awesome by the way.
