I don't think anyone mentioned this, but there are heirloom items in the game now with level scaling stats. They're on the Nemesis vendors. There are 3 pieces (Actually 5, but 3 are identical save for one detail) for 150 tokens, and 3 for 200. They all bind to account, but cannot be mailed. You have to have a shared account bank to trade them. The pieces for 150 are secondaries, one for each equipment slot. They offer some Defense and/or Offense, and some to both your primary and secondary superstats. Having all 3 items raises your odds of finding catalysts when you open a node, and also gives you an eye glow. The glow differs depending on which of the third piece you're wearing. The 3 types are Fiery, Glowing, and Dark. The 3 200 pieces are also one for each slot. They also offer offense and/or defense and superstats. Each one also offers a 3% experience boost passively. They're solo though, no set bonus for having all 3 (Though the bonus does stack to 9%.) If you have a 40, you earn about 50 Nemesis tokens per Minor mission (The outdoor ones that take 2 seconds) and much more for Majors so they're quite cheap. Less than 40, you unfortunately earn a hell of a lot less. (These are the prices in the VIP lounge. As far as I know they removed the discount from there, but it's possible they cost more elsewhere.) Is there a way to shut off that in-game auto-patching thing that causes loading screens to take a millennium to finish? Because seriously, I'm trying to pay Whiteout here but it's loving impossible.

I'll have all 3 shortly, so if anyone wants to see the differences before they buy one let me know. Edit: Here's a picture of the Eye Glows: The Fire moves, of course. The rays of light coming off the glowing one rotate like a windmill. You can't see it well, but there's a black aura around the last one that also windmills. So could someone suggest to me an Archetype to replace my Behemoth character with? Sadly she's not much fun aside from Roomsweeper. For what it's worth my 'main' character is Grimoire, and I've tried both Mind and Soldier. Grimoire is great fun, Mind I just wasn't any good at and kept dying, and Soldier was pretty good but I ended up getting distracted from playing her and didn't pick her up again. EDIT: I should say I'm happy to pay CP for one. I'm up to 270 so far, it'll only take a few days to get to the 900-something required! Aww, but Roomsweeper is unironically the best power in the game. There's a reason my first 40 was Might. Granted, what archetypes to suggest probably depends what sort of powers appealed to you... from the sound of it ranged archetypes seemed best, so maybe try Inferno. Glacier can be fun too, if you want something more durable, and Inventor's pretty good if you're willing to buy an archetype; it's a support build, but with the best pets in the game and a decent spread of powers of all types.

I suppose the sorts of powers I like would be important. Soldier didn't really have any standout powers but was just generally fun, and with Grimoire really the entire thing revolves around me teleporting in and tossing down sigils, and watching that work so well is just tremendous fun. I probably wouldn't want 'Sigil-fuckery Mk. II' though. And I will not begrudge Roomsweeper being the best power in the game, it clearly is. But have you seen the rest of Behemoth? Such little fun stuff going on there.

Well, I know you're asking for Archetypes, but Might as a freeform set is really quite awesome. Behemoth does kind of suck though. Archetype-wise, the Blade is kind okay, although it starts loving slow and boring with just 3 attacks for the first dozen levels.

As far as free AT's go, I don't think you can get much more solid than 'The Unleashed'. It has got one big leg up on the others in that it can actually heal itself pretty well with Rank 3 Bountiful Chi Resurgence. That, and it has access to some fairly good attacks and defenses (Dragon's Wrath, Force Geyser, Eye of the Storm.) The Squall (thanks to hurricane) is an unstoppable killing machine at early levels. I'd assume the Cursed/Scourge is the same way for entirely different reasons.

Oh, by the way, the new modding system breaks the stats in a certain slot rule. Dex in Defense is back! Also I now have a +104 Dexterity, +112 Dodge Chance, +26 defense, +41 crowd control item. It's quite nice.

You can also put Dex armouring mods in Utility too, so you could have Dex in all three primaries There's some Defense items that have baked in Dodge so it's quite possible to get 240+ dodge in one item If I see one with SS that I want, then I'm taking it. At this rate, I'm going to be retconning out of Elusive Monk- I'm only getting ~9% dodge out of it as it is. Pubs are bloobloobloo about this change, but once you start to gear up with the new items, you can see how loving nuts it's going to be.

I was gonna suggest Champions Online - Free CP for all! Also, thanks for the suggestions. I'm gonna turn down Blade since it sounds like it has the same problems as Behemoth, but I'll look into the rest of them. EDIT: vv I've been doing Alerts, and the only actual issue I have is the insanely strict time limit on Smash missions. It really should be at least three minutes - two is just too short for any team that isn't a well-oiled machine. My advice though, stay away from fighting GRAB. So simple, yet it appears to attract the dumbest, most underlevelled crowd. Cleretic fucked around with this message at 02:09 on Apr 18, 2012 |

For an update called "On Alert!", Alerts are literally the worst part of the new additions. Seriously, stay as far away from these as possible, unless you can wrangle up five people you are one-hundred percent certain are not functionally retarded. You'd think that, because they all slap level 30 stats on anyone who jumps in, they'd be balanced around that at the least--you'd think wrong. Judging from the active contempt Cryptic has shown towards their community, this is an ironic response to the "make it harder" crowd?

It all seems really haphazard to me now, but I've found the two most reliable sources to be A: Unity Missions and B: Serpent Lantern and other Adventure Packs Basically, anything BUT alerts is likely to drop equipment drops of around green+ quality. Hell, I've gotten purples out of nowhere on some UNITY runs. Cleretic posted:I was gonna suggest Champions Online - Free CP for all!
