Has there been any polling or studies on Standard vs Daylight savings time on Texas specifically? Not agreeing on which is the only way I can see this not passing. I think for being productive and happy due to light in the evenings supports Daylight Savings time but doesn't Standard Time technically lead to less power usage in Texas due to less need for A/C in the evenings?

It's still gotta pass the Senate and governor so it's not a done deal yet Also here's the exact ballot question  It reads to me that it would give permission for the state to conduct a referendum, so there will be two public votes? Switching for daylight savings is horrible and needs to go away, but god dammit this needs to be a nationwide thing. As someone who who works with people in California, Colorado, Texas, Florida, Ireland and Sweden every single day, scheduling is already a nightmare. Having to worry about who is and isn't on DST will just be even loving worse.

Dallas mayoral early voting is here this week, as a heads up. At a first glance, I think Scott Griggs is the best (most progressive) candidate but does anyone have any more info? Also, looking into the down ballot city council races, why the gently caress is every single one of them running on More Cops? Losing my faith in humanity slowly, there is literally not a candidate for my city council spot that isn't campaigning on More Cops.

Would picking one or the other permanently mean Texas would be effectively central time half of the year, and either mountain or eastern time the other half depending on which is chosen? Until, of course, other states follow.

It'd be Mountain time, since that's what El Paso is on and there's two states between Texas and eastern time. In the winter we would be central standard time and in the summer we'd be mountain daylight time.
