Well for those that seem curious I'm American but live in the UK. Lived here for over ten years now so my grammar and spelling are a horrid mix of UK and US. I try to stick to UK as much as possible because I don't want my kids to pick up American spellings since it's almost certain they'll be here for their school lives at least. Don't know what the waste laws are around here but I'm willing to bet they'll be far more severe than the US versions.

ElGroucho posted:Oh good, then I'm only halfway stupid for not knowing what the gently caress an industrial estate is. An industrial estate is an area of warehouses and factories and stuff like that. Usually on the outskirts of towns. Waste laws here are quite strict. You can phone the council and pay for an uplift and then that's fine. Or you can employ a private contractor, which you would have to do for commercial waste. If the waste contractor you hire doesn't have a licence then you are liable for what they do with it. It's your responsibility to check their licence, which you can do on the council website. So if your contractor dumps it at the side of the road, the council will pursue you for fly tipping to the point where you'll end up with a criminal record.

Apparently some white girl that got terrible grades in high school and couldn't get into Harvard got a case taken all the way to the Supreme Court about it, claiming racial discrimination. The Supreme Court ruled that it was her terrible grades that kept her out of the school and not Affirmative Action. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a good source on the actual case, just a bunch of memes and Facebook commentary, no actual articles.

The whole reason people are making fun of her is because her whining about being passed over in favor of black people was meant to imply that she was a smart student being rejected for "inferior" minorities, when in reality she was a racist who got upset about like 5 black people instead of 42 white people of the same caliber getting in ahead of her too. I'd call her Bad Grades Becky too if it pissed her off, because she's a lovely racist.

In Minnesota, it's as simple as: Order a roll-off container from any local waste management facility. Request a delivery and a pickup date. If it's haz-mat, make mention of it. Pay fee. Full stop. As I understand it, once they take the roll-off, dumpster contents, etc. it is no longer the problem of the person requesting disposal in the US. Maybe I'm wrong.

Well we have voted to leave the UK. Goddamnit Britain I thought you were better than this. My wife and I are already talking about what to do when I lose my job in 5ish years as there's no way profits in my industry aren't going go tank hard core. I think the place will struggle on for awhile but unless a miracle happens I don't see it not going out of business after awhile. So I'm probably going to lose my super easy job that allows me to switch hours with my wife making the child care thing a snap. Though good news I'm on a permanent leave to remain visa so if I do lose my job I can claim those sweet sweet benefits and live in luxury as a leeching immigrant as these people seem to believe exists. Enjoy my shock and fears for my future thread. Feed off the schadenfreude England is going to go through economic chaos and it looks like Scotland is going to tell the UK to piss off and break away.

The 'freude here is Boris Johnson He campaigned for Leave, knowing that it would never happen, so he could get lots of profile of him attacking Cameron and building him up for when he wanted to take a run at the leadership. Now he potentially could end up being PM, with an economy that makes Tommy Carcetti look like he was Mayor of Utopia.
