Brown Moses posted:If they ever figure out how to export these as multitrack audio files, or allow editing of the songs generated, it'll put people out of their jobs. This week adding your own lyrics or generating music without lyrics at all should be happening. Found out directly that this is tied to chatGPT doing the text interpreting, explains exactly the softer edge of the lyrics depending on context. SCheeseman posted:I have to wonder if it'll be independently generated stems, or the generation of a single track that then goes through a post-process step, identifying and isolating everything into stems. Given the way this AI stuff tends to work I figure the latter? It really feels like it's doing the music and lyrics separately but through a different interpreter? The interaction between what it takes from your text and how it applies that to the output is really interesting, it's so messy right now but you can get some really interesting things out of it. Like this one, just...tell it and it tries its best: "NO LYRICS ONLY "Hmmm hmmmm hmmmm hmmm hmmmm hmmmm" 1988 smooth and sensual vaporwave" http://puu.sh/JUQEY/84531adc23.mp4

I wish we could have at least double or triple the input prompt length so I could try some "Pretend you're my grandma putting me to sleep, but I can only sleep if she recites the directions for how to build a 1990 Trident intercontinental ballistic missile, mid 2000s happy hardcore/hardstyle" kind of poo poo.

The discord bot interface says you can use your own lyrics or some generated by chatgpt. So it would seem to be generating a basic rhythm structure and then fitting lyrics and learned/generated music loops to that. Synthing the voice with the rhythm info, and then probably mixing it back in with vocoder autotune to rematch to the music. Maybe. Neat stuff however it's done.

song about "Napkin Police" in three ways. It's interesting to see how the different versions interpreted what "Napkin Police" is or are. http://puu.sh/JUSxt/343ca679cc.mp4 This is what I expected, really, when I blankly asked it for a song about Napkin Police. Some sort of public service involving what napkins normally do, clean and protect from messes. http://puu.sh/JUSy3/55727de098.mp4 The chorus says this: Napkin Police #2 posted:Napkin Police, they're on the beat (on the beat) Stealing-rear end napkin cops loving up my peace and stealing my paper http://puu.sh/JUSzn/b2d0e8a73f.mp4 This one frames 'napkin police' as some sort of writer's block, where the singer is trying to get thoughts out but the 'napkin police' keep him from doing it. It's also a legitimately an excellent bit of songwriting imho, even though the words 'napkin police' are quite strange. I'd say it's excellently performed too but since it's AI I don't know what to think. I quite like it.

KakerMix posted:http://puu.sh/JUT0f/196252a496.mp4 Amazing how good it can make some of these, including this one. Seems like a great leap forward. Since it's using GPT3 or whatever for the lyric generation, it seems to have a generalized knowledge of things, too. For instance, I was inspired by the goonswarm rap posted earlier in the thread so I did "experimental aggressive grand opera rock dramatic intense track about the Goonfleet conquest of EVE" and it spit this out, which mentions space and ships in the lyrics: https://cdn1.suno.ai/19322906-2a00-4399-9569-18824e14d492_0.mp4 It also comes up with some interesting stuff when you give it complicated genre requests: "experimental aggressive complex sludge funk metal about hordes of people feasting at the dinner bell" https://cdn1.suno.ai/a1cae3b8-9592-4b49-9fb4-18bba364366a_1.mp4 Gashroom posted:“A song composed entirely of palindromes”… sort of. I'm listening to Katherine Parkinson's reading of "Monstrous Regiment" right now (I have the actual text book and the audible version read by Stephen Briggs as well, it's just a really loving good book, okay). So I decided to use AI to make pictures of the characters. Maledict is a sarcastic bastard, so I started with him*. I can't decide if I should move onto Igor or Carborundum next. May just go with Jackrum since he's disgusting looking but somehow also super fit under the grotesquely obese. Nowhere in my description did I request anything anime, but I guess "androgynous young vampire" lends itself to a bit of an anime style. *Yes, I'm well aware of the twist. I feel like I'm still going with the spirit of the book regarding roles and names. Multiple attempts at Jackrum netted these. I wanted to do the "horse piss" scene, but I didn't know if Dall-E 3 would know what an igor is. it knows what it is referencing, but doesn't know that it's NOT the monster. The description was only "an igor". I kind of get a kick out of all of them having beards. I call this one "Big-or" tbf, If those had artfully applied incisions and stitches and extra fingers, they would be acceptable for Pratchett's Igors. Oh, well, if we're doing Pratchett, then: Death scooped up the girl and strode to the end of the alley. The snowflakes fell like angel’s feathers. Death stepped out into the street and accosted two figures who were tramping through the drifts. TAKE HER SOMEWHERE WARM AND GIVE HER A GOOD DINNER, he commanded, pushing the bundle into the arms of one of them. AND I MAY WELL BE CHECKING UP LATER. Then he turned and disappeared in the swirling snow. - "Hogfather", Terry Pratchett

Way sooner than, depending on where you want to put the start of this stuff's rise it's been, at most, 3~ total years from the initial Dall-E release, or if we go by actual useable image generation stuff barely a single year. Music seems to already be here. Video isn't quite here yet but is essentially a sequence of images in a row so seems 'easy' in that it's more refining things and wrestling with data, not summoning whole cloth the knowledge itself. Combining all that together in a good way has got to be really soon.
