A split developed between the Arce and Evo wings over the years. Haven't read any detailed articles on the why other than attributing it to Evo being power hungry or Arce selling out and both having different policies that weren't elaborated. Last year the MAS party the ruling party picked Evo as their candidate but the judiciary said no and it looked like an Evo wing only meeting which made the split official in Bolivian politics.

Its depressingly common for me to hear people talk about cuba just completely glossing over the blockade 'Oh its the darn castros who stole everything, they can get stuff in the country if they want' Also really funny poo poo by an expat guy who complained that when he went to the international hospital he had to wire money to spain so clearly its all a conspiracy by the castros to offshore wealth Btw wonder what happens when companies get caught dealing with cuba? Evergreen reminder that the key thing that needs to happen for the blockade to end is the restoration of pre-1959 properties to US citizens or their fair monetary value. Cuba could conduct an election that is 100% in line with the American state department and the US would still be banned, by law, from lifting the blockade.
