Yosuke will now die for you.
I just got to the Jade vignette and realized their just going to slam all seven(?) of these back to back. Why didn’t they put each of them in as a flashback immediately after you find each character?

I think stronger monsters was actually tuned down quite a bit from the PS4/PC version just because most of the bosses now have only 2 turns instead of 3. I'm not sure if they increased their power a bit to compensate, but mid-act 1 through act 2 has gone much, much smoother for me this time around.

Huh, maybe I should've picked it this time. I'll have to give it a try on my next playthrough.

wrt grinding on normal difficulty, when I reach thru it on ps4 I was pretty underleveled (since characters would join at significantly higher levels) but I never felt it because I'd use the forge a lot and also stat buffs/debuffs are a gigantic difference maker.

It definitely seems that way to me. I had quite a bit of trouble with Slayer of The Sands when I played on PC. I breezed through it on Stronger Monsters and No EXP from Weak Monsters on Switch. I never made it to her on PC, but I've heard a lot of players complain about Dora-In-Grey and I killed her first try with no party deaths on Switch.

The thing that throws that into question is that people keep having flashes of memories from the other timeine. That's not going to happen in a totally separate timeline unless we jump through some other hoops, like assuming the Luminary has an aura around him that makes people remember other timelines or something like that. It seems like, whether the timeline splits off or not, it's meant to be this weird merging situation where the changes you make work their way into the original timeline until eventually it's just one timeline again. That's probably true of Serenica going back in time to be with Erdwin, too--the timeline you've been playing in during Act 3 continues on but slowly morphs into a timeline where Serenica got to be with Erdwin without anyone noticing. People probably have weird little memories of the way the timeline used to be and blame it on the Mandela Effect Serenica Effect.

Additionally, even the Luminary doesn't seem to recall the timeline he came from. At Yggdrasil the second time around, it takes him a second to realize Jasper's there, and he only reacts at the last second. He doesn't seem to remember that Carnelian is possessed by Mordegon, either, but it's hard to tell since he doesn't react to anything.

Yeah, either he's really dense, or his memories are incomplete until the timelines start merging or something like that. It's all very, very unclear but since there's so much that conflicts I sorta just have to assume Horii's explanation is as close to accurate as we're going to get.

Speaking of maps that aren't round, DQB2's isle of awakening has a lot of extra sea water around it, but it doesn't seem to serve any purpose. There's no extra islands or huge sea monsters roaming around, it's just empty ocean.

Kinda makes me wonder if they were going to have the whole world be one map at one point but then realized the technical problems with that. Maybe if we get a third one on the next gen.

I knew I'd like Sylvando, based on everything I heard, but I'm surprised how much I love Veronica. I thought it would be creepy, but they've (thus far) done everything to avoid that. I also love how she tries to be the voice of reason constantly when she's probably the most insane person in the party.

One of the DQ games in the US had magazine ads promoting the games supposedly tiny world map and totally ocean covered world which I think is a bold choice when promoting a game.

Honestly, for as annoying as it is it's just for the sake of dramatic tension and so they could show the Tockle owning Mordegon. Some of the party talk makes it pretty clear the Luminary remembers pretty much everything with the party commenting on him doing things they don't get that work.

Shes not your real sister, and in historical dynastic societies been the luminaries arranged spouse.

That said dont worry there is a late game sidequest just for you if you like Gemma

What do you need them for? If it's metal slime grinding it's legit significantly faster in the long run to just go random battle scrubs and pep up manually, as long as you do it near a campfire that has mobs who don't use status effects and make sure to save scum between attempts at the power combo.

You can also get pep pips instead in the casino to fill gaps if the RNG is against you, plus the MC gets the pep up ability to trigger it on demand. And then when you start getting Metal King Slimes in the mix you'll get a pep pip back for killing it so it's even more efficient.

Yeah, I was asking for metal slime grinding. I got my rear end beat by a post-game boss (Malicious Auroral Serpent) and I'm pretty sure I'm just massively underlevelled for that fight.

If I remember correctly, the post-game content varies quite a bit in terms of difficulty/expected level, so it might be worth going elsewhere first instead of grinding.

3rd, just felt like trying slime quest again. That being said, I eventually walked away, played roulette for a bit, and hit jackpot within like 5-6 spins. I would hate the gambling part of this game so much if it wasn't weighted so much in your favor.

Okay, Jasper Unbound only has two actions. Between that and Dora In Grey also only having two actions, Stronger monsters is infinitely easier in the switch version. I'm pretty sure I spent 20+ deaths on each before giving up and grinding elsewhere before, while this time I one-shotted them both.

If you want a straight answer then just buy the love potion (they're also a crafting material and this is an ideal time to stock up given the infinite free tokens you can get hold of, if crafting is your bag) and carry on with the story, you're wasting your time otherwise

Good to know they actually put some effort into balancing stronger monsters for the switch version. 3 actions per turn is some rng bullshit.

Just buy the one you need to progress the game.
They're 100 coins when you get access to this casino again, and you can literally fix a jackpot within 20 minutes on the roulette meaning you can get everything you'd ever need from the casino easily.
