I just learned that the podcast has a Youtube channel where they upload the episodes and that this was on there too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7ON-LSl54g

Charlie's revenge story on the most recent podcast is fantastic. "Guess who the actor is now, motherfucker!"

That was fantastic. It's nice to know successful people still think about that poo poo too.

felt a little petty to me. which, maybe is probably part of the point, but there was an air of sincerity behind "hey i believe in karma bc my bully in school wound up not becoming an actor but i did" lol like so what? maybe that's not even what that person wants in life anymore, ya know? he redeemed himself by saying he felt bad about saying the person's name out loud. that was odd. dennis was never my favorite character on the show but glenn is definitely my favorite among the gang in at least how they present themselves on the podcast. pretty grounded and honest without seeming too cocky and admitting to his lovely qualities.

I have a feeling they don't really understand what people were wanting with video podcasts.

That seems to be about exactly what I would expect from them doing a video podcast. Would be cool if they had video of themselves talking I guess, but that seems like a lot more work to put together.

the only miss for me this season was Roller Rink, which still has the drug sale and Dennis watching Frank 'do business' As always, even the worst episodes of this show still manage to have something great in them.

Topical subject episodes just kinda suck in general, Frank giving Gulliani the shoe polish hairdye was a good bit but really I'd prefer they just stay out of the news

This show whose first episodes included takes on abortion, Israel, gun control, North Korea, etc. has really gotten too topical

I mean I actually agree with you. Them inserting themselves into the current affairs is where the issue lies for me, though I got some chuckles out of it. It's just a very Simpsons-esque change in how they handle the topics.

I didn't mind the 2020 Episode. It's a pretty average Always Sunny episode, nothing great that everyone seems to expect every episode to be! Although, it probably won't really age that well. 10 years from now when everyone is doing the season 25 series rewatch, people are not going to remember half the poo poo they are even referencing and will be quite confused.

Broad City was a pretty fun show otherwise but that episode was just jarring

It was definitely really weird. It was either network suits forcing them to do it to get 20 somethings excited about Hillary, or the people making that show really thought that regular people really liked Hillary or something. Either one is bad.

# ? Jan 17, 2022 17:48 |

I think they had to rewrite a large part of a season because it relied on Hillary winning the election. South Park also had that problem, but their structure made it a quicker fix

Well more regular people liked Hillary than liked Trump, so maybe they weren't wrong. But it seems like maybe the premise should be at least somewhat funny before adding in topical poo poo too?

ShoogaSlim posted:you can say it's not funny, but you can't say the didn't add anything to it. that's the whole point of the episode. Nah, it just wasn't done very well. Too specific and history moves too quickly now. And the way it came together was kind of like the post-Larry David Seinfeld seasons where writers were struggling way too hard to have Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer's respective plots collide at the end of every episode - too sweaty. Abortion, gun control, etc have all remained controversial topics for decades; the Q shaman will be a distant memory living on only in "remember this?" tweets in a few years. I also had completely forgotten about the Kanye thing - I knew at some point they'd reveal the gang wasn't talking about Trump the whole time, but I couldn't think of who. Ratjaculation posted:This is how you -don't- do topical; This literally ruined the entire show for me. Same. I have such a hard time even imagining those characters being excited to see Hillary. Abbey maybe, but Ilana? No loving way, given what the show tells us about her in just about every episode before that.
