I'm guessing now we're in the culture of everyone taking this allegations super seriously and it starting to seem like all these accusations are true it's the right time to disclose it and have the public tend to accept it. The US is finally starting to see what happened in the UK about 5 years ago with Operation Yewtree After Jimmy Saville died and it finally came out he was a massive pedophile rapist all of a sudden the accusations starting coming out of the woodwork and people began speaking up about other people in positions of huge influence and power committing frequent sexual abuse on minors and this time people took it seriously and started massive investigations into it. Honestly, it's pretty amazing that this sudden surge in people coming forward is due to Anthony Rapp being willing to come forward about a decades old incident and now we're hearing about several of the cast and crew of House of Cards having dealt with Spacey's abuse for years.

It's also not just in hollywood. It's rich people everywhere. Like, it's getting found out in Hollywood because Hollywood is a place where the spotlight is also on victims. The people who are coming out as victims in Hollywood are people who had semi successful careers and have imdb pages and poo poo.
