randyest posted:Hey it's your urinary tract / bladder so do whatever you want, but feeling the need to pee but not being able to is a symptom of some easily-treatable things that can turn pretty ugly without treatment. Good luck! Seeing the doctor for things that aren't yet hurting/killing you is something people with health insurance do. Anyway, I was just curious what the feeling of needing to pee was even called. It goes away in like 10 minutes.

Benjamin Black posted:Every so often, I'll use the restroom and come out still feeling like I have to pee, even though I don't. Maybe once every few weeks or so? I just have to ignore it until it goes away, but it's hard to get your mind off of. The symptom is called "incomplete emptying" and it might indicate a significant post-void residual. I work in a urology/oncology department, but am a researcher with no training in the field and not a doctor. You should be aware that urology symptoms are often subtle, assessed in combination with a lot of other symptoms. That's why patients are given surveys and also why physicians tend to over-refer patients to urologists, just to be on the safe side. Symptoms are also considered relative to your age. A 70 year old who has to use catheters every day might be equivalent to a 20 year old who merely has a weak stream. You might not have any one issue that is particularly very bothersome. But the big picture of all your symptoms considered together might prompt further testing. For one, they'll probably want to know exactly how much volume is left after you empty your bladder. Since you seem to be uninsured, you might at least fill this form out and go find a real doctor in the goon doctor forum: http://www.windsorurology.co.uk/Clinical_Information/IPSS_Questionnaire.aspx There are some sex surveys as well, but I highly doubt you want to share those with us. Some clinics and cancer centers offer free prostate screening days as well. You'll get a blood test (PSA), maybe a DRE (finger up the butt), but mostly you'll get to talk to a doctor or nurse practitioner for free. Don't be shy. This stuff is no stranger to them than elbows and chins. I have a plastic model of a man's dick and balls slightly to my right, for example. Goatse, to me, is the shock equivalent of looking at a Bob Ross painting, and I know more about the sex lives of octogenarians than any young person should ever know. Fun fact: they all want Cialis over Viagra because it lasts longer. Viagra lasts 5 hours. Cialis lasts something like a day and a half. How is 5 hours not enough time? Some of those old farts are loving machines.

Some friends of mine asked if I wanted to go camping in Yellowstone next month. I've never done real camping outside of public campgrounds with lots of people and I've never spent more than maybe a day or two completely disconnected from everything around me. I'm a city person easily, but I do enjoy getting out into the country if I'm with people. Has anyone been camping up there before? They're planning on doing 5 days out there but that seems like a lot of people who've never camped before. I'm also reading the weather to be very unpredictable pretty much year round.

Do you want to know about camping specifically at Yellowstone or camping preparations in general? Are they going to have, say, an RV or just a tent with a campfire?

They have RV parks in Yellowstone, but most of the actual camp sites range from a firepit, to a firepit with a picnic table and a bear box. A bear box is basically a big metal container for storing food and other smelly items (lotions, deodorants, etc) and is designed to keep bears and other animals from taking your food.

I have a Logitech headset w/ microphone either identical or very similar to this one. I've been pretty happy with it for the most part, but the insulation where the output wire joins the connector is starting to split apart. This is after six months of not quite daily usage, and I definitely haven't been being rough with it. Any recommendations for a replacement? Something with a single connector for speakers and mic would be preferable, but not a requirement.

I feel like they haven't made reservations or called around or really developed a plan but I'm just worried about getting there and exhausting myself with either working for wood/food or spending all day hiking in a blazing sun. I guess I really have no clue what to expect from this and no idea how to prepare. My friends just said they want to go to Yellowstone to camp and that's it.

I may need to ship something in the future that requires shipping and certain other information to be affixed to the package in an easily removable/replaceable manner. To you USPS employees out there: would it be possible to use the 2976-E customs form envelope in conjunction with domestic shipping labels or documentation, or do I need to use sleeves of my own?

Some goons in the mouse thread (yes there is such a thing) have had insanely positive experiences with their customer support. Just suggesting that you might have a problem seems to motivate them to ship you a brand new equivalent of something you bought in 2005 because the scroll wheel is sticking or what have you. I would hope the same applies to headsets, definitely hit them up about it. Don't worry about the receipt, a hosed up cord in a six month period is a big deal to them and they probably would like to know how/why that happened.

My parents received a letter from a company called "Core Logic Field Services" on behalf of Wells Fargo (apparently). From Googleing around it seems that they are a home repo company. The letter is simple, it states that they are required to ascertain the occupancy status of the property, and it asks you to pick one of the following- A- I am the owner and current occupant, B- The property is tenant occupied, or C- The property is vacant and a signature and date line. They want you to fill it out, put a stamp on it, and return it within 5 days. It lists no penalties for not doing so. I don't know too much about the situation but I guess my parents are a little behind in their payments. Do they have to fill this out and return it? What will be the consequences of not doing so?

Farecoal posted:Is there any alternatives for high-speed internet than Clearwire* or Comcast (Chicago area)? Nope, you're hosed pretty much. At&t might offer uverse but it's pitifully slow, unless you can get fiber optic. Comcast had pretty good speed, but it's often slower than advertised, albeit not by much. Their customer service is atrocious, however, and the pricing is obscene. Full disclosure: I use Comcast in champaign, but I grew up in chicagoland. Have Comcast back at home, too. I've had quite a few terrible experiences with them, though.

I assume they'd mail the form to the "owner" instead of your parents if they were renting, so I'd recommend calling Wells Fargo asap and discussing your options before doing anything with the letter. That said, I suspect the answer to the letter's question is a matter of public record and not answering or answering incorrectly will probably not even delay the inevitable and could mess you up. Still, call and talk.

Corelogic is a company that helps other companies -- especially lenders -- manage risks, including mortgage defaults and foreclosures. A letter from Field Services may mean they're trying to figure out what to do about your parents' not paying their mortgage bills on time (or your parents' landlord's failure to pay on time.) They "own" the house. They are a little behind in payments but they've been in contact with the bank and a payment is scheduled to be deducted from their checking account in the next week. I'll have them call the bank. Thanks.

Can a small solar panel out of something like a calculator power a little motor? Even a slow crawl would be fine. If not, is there even any size panel that you could strap onto an electric motor and have it move itself?

Knightmare posted:Can a small solar panel out of something like a calculator power a little motor? Vague question with a ton of variables involved but basically, no. Solar power output is very low and motors require very high current. Knightmare posted:Even a slow crawl would be fine. If not, is there even any size panel that you could strap onto an electric motor and have it move itself? Yes, but the relative size of solar panel to motor is very high for directly driving a motor. that is why most solar setups are about storing the energy over a long period for short use. Even in a calculator the power from the panel is stored in a small battery for use when the calculator is on.

I don't think a calculator panel would do it, but when I was a kid, I had a motor kit from the Smithsonian; it came with a small panel that was maybe 1" x 2" that powered a motor that you could put wheels or a fan on.
