I've got a single-payer story, from a single-payer nation, for some perspective:

In Australia, where I live, I had an anal abscess. [DO NOT GOOGLE THAT]. I waited 4 months for treatment in the national health system, and got treated for free. I guess it was sorted out adequately, after they had the second go at it. You get what you pay for.

When my wife had an exceptionally poor surgeon slice open her bladder while removing rampant endometriosis, we were faced with two choices: sit her on a gurney in a public hospital corridor for 36 hours in agony, (and low but real percentage chance of death), or go "Private", to a profit-making hospital, for about $6,000 of your US money and get it sorted rightaway. Easy question because we had some credit left, not everyone has that.

My wayward points are these:

Single Payer rocks if that is like the NHS in the UK or Public in Aus or NZ,
I fully support socialised medicine, yet
You get what you pay for,
And in an emergency it is good to have private options,
These private options will cost you.

Hope that helps!

Edit: We didn't have health insurance. It sounds mental to people in the US, but down here it does sometimes make sense to self-insure

I've also got a single payer healthcare story. In May 1998 I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. I was immediately admitted to hospital, put on insulin - and on an injector pen at that, as I have an extreme phobia of needles - and instructed in everything I needed to know to control my condition. This instruction was good enough that 19 years later I have virtually no neuropathy or retinopathy.

In May 1998 I had been out of work for almost a year. If I lived in America I would probably be dead aged 24, or at best a permanent bankrupt. Which is why I'm glad my treatment means I also retain sufficient physical capacity that when someone talks about single payer healthcare being a bad idea I can indulge my quite natural urge to break their limbs with an iron bar.

There are of course benefits to the system but the real trouble now is how hard it is to receive preventative care, and how private interests can often work against actually providing the appropriate health care.

I got diagnosed with a rare and deadly super aggressive cancer by a walk in dr on a Wednesday. On Monday I had the first tumor removal surgery. Treatment with 6 surgeries and two months if radiation took me 5 months at no cost other than missed work.

This is Canadian fwiw.

There was another one where her one-night stand was hiding behind some curtains, only that his penis poked out and was in full view (it was flaccid, but still).

The nudity in Zelda at least feels like it's because of the subject matter being presented, and not just somebody tracing over some porn stills and copy/pasting red pill talking points over the traced porn.

The artist doesn't shy away from portraying actual intercourse (art!) if that comic book preview in that Rocky magazine I bought once is anything to go by.
Doubt you'll see that in the Zelda strips though.

Like if your protagonist is a flawed and angry young woman struggling to define what feminism means for her then occasionally it makes sense that sex would come up. Some of the strips seem a bit low effort in the way that daily newspaper comic strips do (does it run daily?), but otherwise, it seems like an okay strip that's just a little straightforward compared to actual political cartoons, which try to encode their message in metaphor, even if they often fail and come off as hamfisted.

I get what this is trying to say, but it seems to run on the assumption that the whole world is like the US. Strictly speaking , you don't have to be born super-rich, you only have to be born in or immigrate to a civilised country.

Had the rich guys find a place to be physically removed from the same country the poors, they can apply the science of colonianism again. It could be a ring in space (like in the movie), it could be the Moon, it could be New Zealand.
