Met with my academic advisor today. She confirmed my school stuff about econ so I'll be double majoring in that and PR. I asked about the difficulty of business calc. She essentially told me if I failed it, it's because I'm incapable of learning.

DD in the NG for failing piss test? BCD at worst that gets upgraded to general under OTH because the TAG doesn't want to do the paperwork. No idea what happens officer side- I only ever saw one LT get kicked out for smoking weed and don't know what characterization he got. I think under ARs officers can't get a DD or BCD- it's either whole-hog dismissal proceedings with a drop from branch rolls or they find some way to administratively revoke your commission.

We only had one guy piss hot, he went from E-4 to E-2. We also had about 30 people sweating a piss test we did the week before we mobilized to Dix for OIF, but nothing ever came of it.

It's incredibly hard to get SSI/SSDI, despite whatever anecdotes exist. I know, because I share an office with someone that gets clients SSI/SSDI all day long. I can't imagine a fate worse than doing that poo poo for a living.

one e-3 in my unit pissed hot for weed and got booted asap. ..that guy got extra hosed because he was a enlistment for citizenship/permanent green card guy. this happened in 2000, however, and was done by our new company commander who was cleaning house.

Generally speaking if a class is ...but for <majors> it's probably pretty easy. Like the physics class I took "Physics for Today" - which had no lab and nothing more complicated than unit conversions.

just to clarify typically a drug discharge is an adsep as general under honorable (or if as a result of njp an other than honorable), bcd/dd only come from court martials ng might be different and somehow gayer, but I doubt it when it comes to this. bcd and dd carry some really heavy ramifications for your later life if you somehow end up with one

At any half decent grad program calc is a legit requirement. There are lots of guys with degrees in math studying graduate econ.

I've never taken a business math class so I can only guess that they remove the importance of taking derivatives or integrals by definition. You definitely need to know how to integrate for probability and statistics (for distributions).

I minored in math, but I didn't have to. They only require business calc and stats. Econometrics is the only class at the undergrad level that you actually need any of it, but it's just a little bit of extended stats and not really necessary. I would likely have to take another couple of math classes to get into some of the grad eco programs at FSU aside from the master's in applied eco.

My school requires one of Calc I, applied calc, or linear models and probability for econ majors, but you need calc fo sho. I found out the hard way after skating through linear models and finding the first exam in an upper level macro econ class to consist of about half calc equations. The professor toned it down on future exams because most people bombed, but even without calc the math poo poo was really tough. If you're not good at math and you don't want to put in the time to get better, stay far away from econ.

Now they do highly recommend calc as a minimum, and one of the stats classes they recommend require calc III. A lot of the econ majors at FSU are in a pipeline to just get a master's in applied eco, though, which isn't so much focused on the math behind it but rather how to use it in a practical setting. Econometrics is usually the killer class for most people. I didn't struggle because I had already taken a bunch of calculus at that point.
