Mojo Threepwood posted:Oh I didn't know it was only 90 days now. Yeah it was definitely a case of some bad apples ruining for everyone. When someone brought in a 10 year old TV that worked fine and gets their money back, it was a total loss for Costco. That can't be put back on the shelf or sent back to the vendor, just a big margin hit. I bought a TV at costco a year or two ago and they offer a warranty that you can purchase for like $100 that's still incredibly good. It's like 5 years no questions asked if it breaks we'll send people to come pick it up so you don't have to haul your big rear end TV anywhere. I think my only complaint about Costco is that they don't seem to carry pants in anything bigger than a 40 but I guess that is probably an indication that I should get my fat rear end off the couch and lose 2 inches off my waist to reap the benefits of cheap pants.

A cashier at the snack bar gave my dog a plate of chicken scraps because she said he looked tired. I was taking him on a walk and was making a pit stop to grab something to eat.

I bought a 52 inch Samsung tv at costco for >600 bux iirc. I also buy all my jeans for work there. 14 bux for decent looking Kirklands that can take a beating. One benefit that has been undersold in this thread is the massive quantities of healthy food you can buy there. You can get unhealthy poo poo too, but I go there every two weeks and load up on chicken breasts, salmon, broccoli, rice, and 5 dozen eggs for ~50 bucks. Add a few snacks and fruits and you and your family can eat healthy and well for what you'd pay at Walmart for literal garbage. Also no fat poors in scooters, which is well worth $45/year.

Their fish prices fluctuate A LOT so if it seems too spendy, check back another time. There's also the salmon burgers which keep getting namechecked and with good cause because they're awesome.

If you say you're going in for booze they let you in without a card and you can buy booze without a card, at least you could as of 2009 (when I got my membership ) owing to how America's liquor/private club laws work. It's called a 99 and they'll do it with a minimum of fuss in most places except if you go to whichever magic Evil Costco that whatsisname upthread goes to where they'll probably just kill you out of hand or something (USER WAS PUT ON PROBATION FOR THIS POST)

For Sam's Club the "preferred" membership is definitely worth it as you get a 40% discount on generic meds from their pharmacy. If you have regular prescriptions it pays for itself in only a few months.

FYI avoid the 10 lb Perdue bags of chicken, compared to the Kirkland 6.5 lb bags, they're absolute garbage. All flattened and gristly. The individually wrapped Kirkland frozen breasts are a million times better. Costco is awesome. Gimme dat 32 oz package of Provolone slices, yes please.

Well, this has pretty much convinced me to get a Costco membership. We just got one on the edge of town late last year. I was considering Sam's Club, but I'm not exactly a fan of the Waltons. But cheap groceries, toilet paper, and gas (if they have gas at our location, not sure) seems like a good idea.

I'm thinking I might go with the exec package since I do have meds I get discounts on at Sam's. I'm also about due for a refill, so I might as well save some delicious and get em while I shop.

I checked with the pharmacy at the semi local one, and there's no difference between the regular membership price and the executive membership price for meds via the pharmacy. Also, to get back the 55$ that you'd spend on the executive membership, you'd have to spend 2750$ annually, so if you do that, that's your 55$ 2% reward. If you don't, it might be worth just going with a regular membership.

I was talked into upgrading at the register when they told me if I didn't make back the extra $55, they'd refund the difference. I didn't make it back and when I renewed as a regular member, they did the refund before I even asked about it. Seconding the small appliances, and I'm all about the giant bags of pistachios. And their ice cream is a higher fat % than any other brand.

Our Costco opened just a couple months ago and I bought a giant bag of cranberries. We made so many craizens. Also because of New Yorks liquor laws they have to attach the liquor on the side and tell you its totally not part of/owned by Costco. I found a bottle of Stagg Jr there once.
