Morrowind taught me that racism and slavery are bad. Too bad it didn't teach bethesda how to make good games

you know I think I'd be able to tell that was a viet home even without the title text because they still have that giant-rear end CRT television

TacticalUrbanHomo posted:probably accurate. I've never actually played TES I and II and was giving them the benefit of the doubt with those. Daggerfall was actually really cool, it's pretty buggy, but I give them the benefit of the doubt for trying something so ambitious for 1996 and half-way succeeding. Morrowind in lots of ways is a cut down half assed version of Daggerfall, every Elder Scrolls game since has been less ambitious than Daggerfall (and less ambitious than the last Elder Scrolls game). I would pay big money for them to attempt something like Daggerfall again with modern technology, but that's never going to happen. Bethesda is a "mature" company now, which means that they only make prettier and more mainstream (dumber) versions of the same popular game over and over, and that game is Morrowind, not Daggerfall

of course, concidering people are making mods to remove the rendom quests, i don't think modern gamers would like daggerfall much. about 90% of the quests in that game were the kind of "radient" randomized quests you see in Fallout 4 they were quite exploitable, if you wanted (like anything in an Elder Scrolls game). i became arch mage of the Mages Guild by taking the "defend the mages guild" random quest over and over, and waiting in from of the mage guild doors to kill the bandits that spawned there with my trusty AOE spell (that drained all my magicka) "Super Kamehameha"

I tried playing daggerfall a few years ago since badthesda made it free, but it has aged like a drug abusing woman from central Russia. If there was ever an updated version I'd probably be more receptive to it. The game seemed to have some poo poo going on but I'm not struggling through the horrific interface and graphix to find out.
