My middle school classes were a year long, though my high school ones were generally a semester. But that didn’t matter since the semester didn’t end at the end at winter break.

Doesn't he just change grades into the same grade? Like, there's talk about being older and changing classes and stuff but any time actual numbers come up they're the same every year. So every year he has the same new teacher in the same new class and has another birthday where he stays the same age, etc. It's pretty standard in cartoons and comics.

But it seems like Billingsley makes more of a big deal about it than other strips, I dunno. And then there's this.

The benefit of hindsight here makes this delicious. Is she going to bitch about kids not seeing the value of cursive next? I'm not sure when these strips originally ran, but I'm guessing late 90s? Early enough for these newfangled computers to be the scary new thing destroying the good old ways, but late enough that the average kid would be doing a lot of school writing on a computer.
