in my first save I somehow skipped the entire prologue. like it just dropped me straight into the hub area with no cutscenes or commentary. very confusing. I made a new save and I got sent to the galleon.

I was worried when I didn’t see any reviews but Jim’s video of him gushing about it makes me glad the wait was worth it. Can’t wait to dig into a new castlevania game again.

The Blood Grinder Knights have a 2% chance to drop a really nice greatsword that does Game is fantastic.

Well if I end up playing this anything like I did every other Igavania I'm going to be farming every enemy for every drop before I move on to a new area and wind up wildly overleveled for everything with access to tons of gear. I'm so excited to get stupid with this game.

I love Metroidvanias so it's taking some serious willpower to wait for the Switch version when I could buy this on Steam or PS4 but I'm traveling a ton this summer so I must stay strong so I have something to play on my gazillion flights. But it sounds like everyone is having so much fun. Ugh!

Do the monsters drop anything like the souls, cards, etc from the other iga castlevania games? I remember farming some creatures for hours and hours.

I'm enjoying the tutorial level so far, and the tutorial boss has kicked my rear end about four times so far. Coming here to post about it so that I can beat her. This game looks great! Hopefully boss difficulty is tuned just a bit higher than SotN and a bit lower than Hollow Knight - Ecclesia had the best-tuned difficulty in the whole series.

As a quick aside since someone mentioned crashes earlier, as a quick tip you should save before you do any crafting when possible. My game crashed last night while in the middle of trying to make a sword, so better safe than sorry if you haven't saved in a while.

I accidentally 3 shot a boss with magic while exploring a new area. Though that one really didn't seem like a proper boss anyway to be fair.

For folk still on the fence but who like physical goodies -- Best Buy's physical edition comes with a slick/free metal case. Even the other Bloodstained that came out last year was great. Its pretty wild. I was initially expecting this to be another mighty no.9 situation when I saw the videos of this game a few years back. the number of rare / niche / easily missed item drops is ridic like, I played the demo, I played the tutorial, and it was only going back to kill dulahammers for a quest that I discovered they could drop helmets
