I might try my hand at some sig/Avi making at some point but I cannot guarentee quality. Are specific sizes everything should be? Any tips on how to make things? I like to think I like to make stuff but don't do it enough so I'm a big ol noob at most of it.

GIMP.

I think Vanisher and Manifisto use Blender, which is why theirs are so much better than mine.

I don't know what Luvcow uses but basically I imagine him painting in the air with his hands while magical colors come out.

In addition to GIMP and Blender, which are both very capable programs, here are a couple of sites that have some basic tools.
