Who's the guy that always plays the producer character with the clipboard but never has any sketches of his own? Youngish looking guy, fairly normal in his face, and his hair isn't too curly. Or maybe it is? I dunno I can't actually get a good picture of him in my head now.

Kyle Mooney is hilarious and probably the best part of SNL in its current day and they don't let him do poo poo. I don't know if he's even still on SNL.

Yeah a personal weakness of mine is that recurring sketch where Bobby Moynihan and Cecily Strong get fired from their retail jobs. I could listen to them call out their coworkers for hours.

Those sketches rule. My favorite is the Barnes & Noble one where Kevin Hart can't keep his poo poo together.

I wonder what a Lorne Michaels free SNL will look like. Probably bad.

For example, I love David S. Pumpkins because of the absurdity and that it manages to tell you the punchline and still catch you by surprise with it (when he scares the hell out of McKinnon and Beckett).

Something I really like with David S. Pumpkins is that it works as a companion piece to Kevin Roberts and Space Pants in that they're basically the same concept ("This guy was weird. I'm distracted by how weird that guy was. Seriously, why does this guy exist? Why is this venue okay with this guy being a thing?") and easily could have been one character used three times, but they didn't go that route. Each one is unique and outlandish enough on its own merits to work and stand on its own.

Then you get the Diner Lobster sketch. Also a bizarre gem that's just weird enough to work and ended up being one of the most memorable sketches of the last few years. Only now whenever John Mulaney hosts, they feel the need to do a sketch that is just blatantly Diner Lobster, but worse. Each time they try it it feels lazy and something out of Mad Libs. And that's one of the worst things about SNL these days. Instead of recurring characters (excluding Chad and Weekend Update characters), they just redo sketches wholesale and change as little as possible.

I saw the trailer and went to see Monkey Bone because it looked funny. Boy was I mistaken.

Then I saw the trailer for Freddy Got Fingered and thought it was funny. I went to see it because I obviously hadn't learned my lesson. However, at least it wasn't all for naught. For the last two decades, the song "Daddy would you like some sausage?" pops into my head randomly and have a chuckle. Also the memory that I convinced my grandma to see it, and that makes me chuckle a bit more.

Jack Handy wrote a book that had a section of scripts of old SNL sketches he wrote back in the day. That included an unused script for a sketch about a war between zombies and bees with Carl Weathers as the local town sheriff, who is both annoyed and nonchalant about the situation. It apparently did badly during dress rehearsal, but I thought it was pretty funny.

I liked Wiig and Hader a lot, but I think they both unintentionally ruined the show through no fault of their own. When they left, people tried to copy Wiig's close-up "wacky " facial reactions or Bill's laughing, but without the good writing they got or their delivery. The acting is hideous, too- you genuinely see better line delivery in childrens' school pageants.

Kenan is the only reason the show hasn't been cancelled.

This isn't really true, you just think it is because during the election years Trump was basically signal boosting them.

However all the women are absolutely crushing the male cast right now and have been for the past few (five?) years. Kate McKinnon is MVP.

It's always been this bad.

Unless you think Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider acting like a perverted waiter/bellboy for a dozen sketches is somehow decent in any measurable way?

I like Cecily in these sketches, but my favorite is her scary freakout during the Blue River Dog Food commercial. If you ever work in retail or food service you will eventually see someone melt down like this over nothing.
