Gundam was the anime that played after midnight on cartoon network when I was a kid so I felt like I was getting away with something when I watched it. I've never quite gotten into the giant robots thing. I tried playing Battletech a couple of times, my flatmate is big into Warhammer 40k Knights but I'm just not hugely interested in exploring the giant robot space myself. I did like Zoids as a kid though, I might go and rewatch Zoids at some point.

Gundams and all mecha are cool BUT THEY ARE NOT GIANT ROBOTS they require a human operator to be present in a cockpit. It's like saying a car is a giant robot. Battletech is superior to all the mecha anime it ripped off btw GLORY TO HOUSE STEINER

i just built a new gaming rig and have been playing battletech on it the last couple days I know it is not a new game but it is the first time ive been able to play it because my old laptop couldnt handle it anyways it is a game about big robots and thebig robots have big guns and they shoot at each other and you gotta blow up all the other big robots and not let them blow up your big robots it is pretty neat

Toonami used to play censored episodes of one of the gundam shows and then adult swim would play it uncensored later that night, so if you were lucky you could watch the same episode twice and the second time they'd say the word "drat"

I had a buncha Gundam action figures when I was like 12 because I thought they were cool. I was also given a giant Gundam statue of somesort that was also shown in the Linkin Park video Somewhere I Belong and that made me feel cool as a 12 year old. Just overall being a not cool 12 year old.
