Isn't that margin of victory pretty close to the nationwide percentages on legal abortion? I want to say I'm surprised by the result but I'm really not. I drive 70 across Kansas all the time and there have been Yes signs every 30 feet for months but it's just the normal thing you see in rural areas all the time. There have been anti abortion signs along highways through rural areas for as long as I can remember but it's obviously not the majority opinion any more.

800k people voted on the amendment, 250k+450k voted in the governor primaries. It's kind of hard to generalize, but about 100k of Kansas primary voters gave the amendment a gently caress you, then didn't touch the rest of their ballot.

We won't know the 100% truth for a while, but it sure looks like Democrats turned out at near-general levels while Republicans turned out at usual-primary levels. It's genuinely shocking as the base expectation (for national, parachuting-in media) was YES by a zillion or a NO squeaker. NO by 18% wasn't even on the menu. Could be a lot of pro-choice Republicans, as voters are loving weird, but the simpler option is democratic leaners just to vote NO harder.

Higher Dem turnout was definitely a factor, but I wouldn't underestimate the chances of there being far more pro choice Republicans than their representatives in government would lead us to believe. They've just historically suppressed this to get evangelicals on board to pass all of the deregulation and other neo-con/libertarian poo poo they want. Trump also brought over a lot of oddballs that don't fit neatly into traditional Republican archetypes.

I'm sure this will be analyzed to death by everyone over the the coming weeks. I fully expect Republicans to try to twist their way out of it, even though there's really no way of getting around the fact that one of the crown jewels of the anti-abortion movement just voted to legalize it. It's like Ireland legalizing gay marriage and abortion via referendum.

About all we know is that the copilot was found in the trees of a neighborhood. 911 call apparently has the pilot saying "uh, my co-pilot jumped". Some talk of the falling pilot trying to check the landing gear, which definitely got hosed up on one apparently landing attempt. And now the NTSB is getting involved. Probably going to be finding more out about this one!

There was that idiot that jumped out of his perfectly functional and floatable to landing Cessna recently for youtube likes. Claimed his engine died, did no recovery procedures and had a chute strapped on already anyhow. Jumped out and let it float on to crash miles later.

But he's still alive and was being investigated by the FAA last I heard.

If you can find the video of the plane landing, it's possibly the most gentle crash landing that you will ever see.

The plane nerds in AI were talking about the guy looking out the back at the potential issue and getting bumped out by turbulence, which makes more sense, but hey, who knows. Maybe he panicked and thought he could swan dive into the pillow factory.

Jones is beyond hosed and he'll settle if he's smart. Even if his lawyer did this to try to force a mistrial, everything is now out in the open.
