This is the loving worst. I will actively avoid companies that ship through UPS, because in my experience they're the most likely to nail you with 'duty charges' when the item arrives instead of just taking care of that up-front. I haven't ordered anything from Stateside in a while, but from what I remember the least painless option is just USPS/Canada Post. CanCon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aj6Bo8EP7E4

^^^ Are You Afraid Of The Dark was awesome. The General posted:I don't watch Hockey, or Canadian news because we don't have a Colbert or Oliver. What's the scandal? Hoo boy. HC is basically the governing body for all organized ice hockey games in the country. News came out earlier this year that some members of the national junior team sexually assaulted a woman and the organization paid a settlement to keep the story under wraps. People started looking into it and revealed that they have a literal multimillion-dollar slush fund and it's been paying off sexual assault victims since 1989. There are other sex abuse scandals in hockey - hazing incidents at a prestigious sports academy, a coach grooming and assaulting young players, I think there's a whole spreadsheet on NHL players who've had allegations against them. But this is huge. You can't turn a blind eye to it anymore, or deny that the problem is endemic to the institution that we've made hockey into in this country. People are jumping ship; their board chair resigned and they've lost federal funding and a few big sponsors already, but it's not enough. And the stars of the NHL have been predictably silent. Whoever compiled the list is a bit strange “ Lisa Ann, a porn star, got sick of it and put him on blast. She said that for two years MDZ nagged her to hook him up with her friends as if she was a dating service. She repeatedly told him to stop it. She even stopped talking to him for a full year because of it. And when she agreed to give him a second chance (including another warning to not nag her for women's contact info), he started right back up again. She said that she gets a lot of crap and not much phases her, but she describes MDZ as "the most annoying texter in the history of my life." Continuing to contact women in ways they've said they're uncomfortable with is not acceptable. ”

Before all of this, a part of me wanted to visit Boston wearing a Leafs jersey and see what happened. It can't be that bad, you see people in the stadium wearing 'enemy' jerseys all the time. Then my buddy told me about the time he was just walking around Montreal in a Leafs hat, and ended up assaulted and having lit cigarettes thrown at him. When I lived in Toronto I'd hear people say "Being a leafs fan is great, the seasons only 5 months long". The hockey season is loving looooooooooooong. Also gently caress buying Leafs tickets, i think the nosebleeds are at like 200bux, and decent seats are way out priced for the average person now. And on top of that an over priced beer and snacks, you're going to watch them lose. At least the tickets to see the Jays are reasonable, 25bux for second level which i honestly have to say is the best view, you can see the whole field. Field level seats you can barely see anything. Halifax is still going ahead with the World Jrs, too much money gets pumped into the economy to cancel it despite Hockey Canada being like frat house with less punishment.

It's really fun to dig on Leafs fans exactly like this. Yeah the tickets are way too loving expensive. You can save a fair bit of money if you use StubHub (I think) and don't buy the tickets until the game is basically already started, lol. But that's not the full experience. I didn't go to a Leafs game until my 32nd birthday when I took a buddy - I think the tickets were $190 each for nosebleeds. Sat in the same spot with another friend for Game 1 last season where they shut out Tampa before failing like they always do. You gotta admit, the energy is loving electric in there. This dickhead bar owner I used to work for went to Tampa Bay every year and used to brag that he'd go see the Leafs play for $30USD, and the ticket included a beer and a hotdog. gently caress hockey though.
