How do I get audio from a Moog Theremini to a computer? I have the appropriate USB cable. I just don't know anything about MIDI. Well, beyond that I used to download and save MIDI versions of Space Quest themes long ago, in the ages of myth. It looks like this is simpler on Macs, which I don't have.

Well, beyond that I used to download and save MIDI versions of Space Quest themes long ago, in the ages of myth. It looks like this is simpler on Macs, which I don't have. MIDI is for control messages ("play a middle C"), not audio. From the look of it, the Theremini speaks MIDI so you can use it as a synth engine - which means you use a keyboard, a midi file, or some sort of composing software to send it notes to play. There may also be some Moog software to configure it over the same MIDI-over-USB link. To get audio into a PC, plug the line out into line in on a sound card. The one on your motherboard will work as a proof of concept, but something nicer will add less background noise. If you're on a laptop, you probably need a USB sound card of some sort? Note that while it has both headphone and line out, and they do similar things, line out is standardised as ±1V from ground as peak volume, while headphone out depends on the volume settings but often goes higher. As for MIDI files, playing them on a PC back in the day meant using your sound card as a synth engine and sending it the MIDI commands from the file. I think Windows has a software synth to play them these days? Computer viking fucked around with this message at 02:58 on Oct 27, 2023 |

How many animal murders have I been involved in? It’s easy to look up “how many cows have I eaten” but those results usually add up the weight to find the equivalent number of cows. I want to know how many deaths I’ve been complicit in, how many animal souls haunt me. Every chicken nugget contains the meat of how many chickens? How many cows are in an average burger? Add that to every little shrimp, and it really starts adding up.

So my theory, based on nothing, is at the heart of every older star is a small secondary nuclear reaction from the very dense material compacted at the center of the sphere of fusion. Like uranium is down there, getting squeezed - forever. Crazy, right?

So if you have a loop of wire and alternate the current really fast, like 100khz, it can be used to induce current in another loop placed in line with it.

Snowy posted:How many animal murders have I been involved in? You're likely not eating the same cow twice, so two burgers = 2 cows. I assume if you're a Westerner you've eaten meat once or twice a day since you were about 3. Let's just say 1.5 animals a day. 547 a year. Just multiply that by how many years its been since you started eating meat. Using that math I've eaten about 21000 animals, mostly chickens and pigs.

But like the article says, a McDonald’s burger can have meat from up to 100 cows mixed in. I have no idea if that’s anywhere near right but I’d bet the answer is closer to that than 1 cow. I need to know how many animal souls will be waiting to get vengeance when I meet them in hell. If there’s any bit of that animal in my food then I’m complicit in their death.

why did Jeffrey Jones continue to have a career in tv and film for like two decades after being arrested for child porn? like its weird that he was never brought up in any of the discourse around "cancel culture". and it's not like people were overlooking it due to him being a particularly popular actor/celeb or anything, he's always played fairly small roles and most of his characters are kind of annoying, and he's unattactive to boot.
