how would that lateral have been scored? a pass td for mahomes, i get. but who gets the receiving td? is there also a rushing td for toney?

Obscure to all except those well-versed in Yuuzhan Vong lore.
It would be the most funny goddamn thing ever if the Broncos win that division.

If the Pats can someone beat this mediocre (for them) Chiefs team next week and then lose to the Broncos the week after I think they’ll be tied for the division lead lol

Maybe instead of expecting the refs to bail you out, you should instead coach your players not to gently caress up so much. :thunk:

I know that WRs often look to the line officials for confirmation they are or are not on the line, but I don't know if the refs are supposed to tell the coach...

It'd have been a receiving TD for Toney. For comparison, the infamous Randy Moss lateral to Moe Williams is listed in the box score just as "Moe Williams 15-yard pass from Daunte Culpepper", but the full play breakdown is listed as "Daunte Culpepper pass complete to Randy Moss for 44 yards, touchdown, lateral to Moe Williams for 15 yards".

by the end of the season the three best QBs in the AFC are all gonna be in the AFC North, and they'll be Jackson, Browning and Flacco

Is it the Refs job no.

But it is like fairly common for Refs to let players know if they are onside.

I dunno if Toney looked at a ref to get the okay tho.

He didn’t. Literally all Toney had to do was glance at the ref.

Yeah you usually get a heads up if you check. Not with the coach but just a way to move the game along and not have these penalties constantly.

The if you check part is what I'm not sure Toney did or paid attention to instruction if he tried, because...well he's Kadarius Toney.

e:fb other than making GBS threads on Kadarius, which I am going to allow myself to do for an evening.

I think the idea there is if you get the 2 pt conversion and then score another touchdown the XP will put you ahead and if you don't get it, you can still tie the game on the next TD by just getting the 2pt conversion. I think 2pt conversions are a slightly less than 50/50 situation so from math nerd perspective it is probably justifiable if not outright recommended (especially because just kicking XPs is only setting you up for OT with no promise of actually winning)

Navy also went for two with score 17-9 yesterday so it probably is an ~analytics~ recommendation
