It definitely does effect trade circles, in that if you don't have the resources the circle needs, you're somewhere between completely useless and effectively hampering their progress. Don't worry though, since you can change your resources once per month to whatever you want. You might even be able to change now, I'm not sure. Go to your Edit My Nation link and see if you can change your national resources. It'll either let you or give you the next date that you can. Either way, don't edit your resources until you get assigned to a trade circle and they tell you what resources you should have.

A new wonder called the EMP Weaponization or whatever has been added that allows you to pick one of three targets that your nukes will inflict more damage on at the expense of the other two - tech, infrastructure or land. This is a long overdue wonder, tbh.

Hey, how lucky for you that the game requires only 5 minutes of your time per day! When you're not warring for tech and tears, all your daily activities can be finished in less than 20 clicks of the mouse. If you are warring, a quick 10 minute time investment can get you everything you need to have done for the day. You don't have to spend hours and hours grinding away to advance yourself, which is part of the beauty of the game!

Does GOONs allow for non-SA members to join with referrals? I have a friend who might be interested in joining us. I thought I'd wait until I get through training and understand how the game works a little better so that I could hold his hand through the initial stages.
