The thing I don't get about Marilyn Monroe is how she's become so commercialized in (I guess the best term would be) modern urban/counter-culture merchandise. I would have almost thought that if we were going to take some female celebrity from the era and make them into that kind of merchandising icon, it'd be someone like Betty Page.
