as annoying as it was to clean up dog related spills or crashes its hard for me to blame the animal when i, as an adult, still manage to break a plate or whatever here or there through frankly avoidable ineptitudes.

growing up i had one of those cats that was like, evil incarnate as far as knocking stuff off of counters, so you just knew to cat proof the place better or not whine over exploded canteloupe or stolen steaks

anywhoo i didnt figure you were blaming the animal since thats basically the bigger-animal version of when you get teeth marks on your hands/arms whatever from playing with teh dog

So there's a difference between blaming the animal and encouraging the animal not to repeat their behavior. This sort of training will generally improve the life of the creature. For instance my pitt/dogo hasn't left a mark on me since she was a puppy despite some pretty vigorous play fighting because I explained to her I didn't like it and will glide like a ghost past drinks for much the same reason. Her being sensitive to the preferences of those around her lets her be welcomed in to many more social situations and makes her interactions with others more enjoyable for her and them.
