I was definitely reading the forums during 9/11/01 but I wasn't registered (or if I was, I wasn't posting).

I remember basement pool, Esco, Microwave's Hot Mom, Big Peeler, GE Cafe, fecal lasagna, and a bunch of other things mentioned so far.

Also I'm pretty sure I bought this smiley :cthulhu:

ChickenSuit drew my avatar in one of his many threads, and then a couple years later made me a Christmas version which I've been too lazy to change since.

have you thought about finding out what you were reading on 9/11 :tinfoil:

I don’t know what the first thread was, but I definitely remember “What is the worst thing you have eaten due to laziness,” and some poor goon nearly dying of shame after opening a can of Chef Boyardee Ravioli-O’s, pouring them cold and coagulated directly into his mouth in front of his computer, and realizing he needed to get his poo poo together

The only good thing about it was just how crazy the whiplash was from everyone sucking his dick for a bad comic to people making GBS threads on him for what it was.

Right when GBS changed. Good times.

I think I may have seen some of the Photoshop Phridays earlier - "Lord of the Rings - On the Go!" comes to mind as well as a speed-limit sign commanding truck drivers to kill - but my first thread on the forums was probably around 2003 or 2004 - someone on another forum linked it, it was someone going through a crazy hoarder house. From there I went into GBS and recall a thread entitled "I peed on my girlfriend today," but that's about all I can remember. Didn't actually get an account until 2007, right when Let's Play was getting big.

Now sauntering to the ring, please welcome the lackadaisical style of the man who is always doing something...

It was a thread where someone described his experience of losing his virginity that went from a tender description of teenage love to accidentally kicking the radio and cranking up some death metal, causing him to go insane, burn an improvised trach hole in his girlfriend's throat with a cigarette lighter, gently caress the hole, and then send his van over the edge of the cliff it was parked by.

It... um... was a lot.

I read the front page first! weekend web and other articles were very entertaining and addicting
An early thread i remember liking was Christian Humbert reloaded.
A goon (with the help of some guests) badly drew a webcomic based on a terrible self-insert style fanfic.
It was very funny but the author stopped after the person who created the original fic asked that they do so. i really respected this at the time, and it was very much within the period of goons calling each other autists as insults and such, or doxxing (otherwise) innocent internet weirdos like the author "for the lulz"
it definitely wasn't the very first thread i read but it stuck with me

I'd been reading the front page since almost day one. Cliff Yablonski became my favorite and I always felt like I hit the jackpot when there was new content. Later, I found the forums but iirc Richard "Lowtax" Kyanka would randomly move GBS in and out from the paywall especially closer to my reg date. I'm not sure what was going on or if it was due to discussion of :filez: or what, but I finally registered specifically to finish reading Mr Water. One night, GBS was available and I read the first of the three Mr Water threads, went to bed and the next day I was going to read the rest and GBS was behind the paywall.

BTW, is there anywhere that Mr. Water was backed up with pics? I've found random SA threads saved on personal websites and even as pdfs through the years, but not Mr Water and it's definitely one of those worthless-without-pics threads.
