they accepted a deal to be published by sony with the exclusivity that went along with it. they could have chosen to self publish in japan like with ds 1 & 2 if they wanted

the only real low-point in dark souls 1 is the demon ruins, but that doesn't take long at all when you know what you're doing

lost ivalice is the worst drop in quality I've ever experienced, and other than weird baby skeleton things, the entire back half suffers from not being very interesting. Underwhelming bosses, dungeons that go back and forth between uninspired and bad. I couldn't put the game down until the second half, and then I had to force myself to finish half a year later.
The painting world was good, and I still haven't played the DLC though.
