Some really cool stuff in this thread. I just got back from a snowboarding-trip and realized I'd taken more photos with the phone than the camera since it was way easier to throw the phone up >_< Also, while snow and crap on the lens took care of the focus stuff going on there's some crappy coloring-filter all over them because I'm a sucker for those >_>

If you could articulate fully what you felt, then you wouldn't need to take photos. It sounds like you're already at the point where you know what you like so just keep at it - shooting by feeling the moment is exactly how it should be done, planning out photos usually doesn't end well. And also, don't be bothered too much why people like or don't like your photos, you should always try to shoot for yourself first.
