I just assumed Frank lost access to it.

As far as I know, he doesn't have a "home base", a storage locker or anything resembling a headquarters and was shown shacking up with Micro in this show. Where would he even keep all that poo poo? He seemed to be very much winging it; down to stealing a car.

"Where did the guns go?" never even crossed my mind past the part in DDs2 when he inexplicably didn't mow down The Hand on the rooftop when he had the chance.

After starting, and not really finishing (Daredevil S1 was the exception that I grudgingly finished watching after a long hiatus) any of the other Marvel series, I totally binged on The Punisher and loved it. Thought they did a really good job with Frank Castle as a not-really hero, as well as how hosed some veterans are with PTSD and other mental issues and how they get almost no support.

But anyway, I'm now considering going back to try another Marvel series. I kinda like Luke cage but got bored about halfway through the season. Iron Fist didn't even get me past 3 episodes. I hear Jessica Jones is good, but I know nothing about the character.

How is Defenders? From what I've read, it seems very meh, and suffers from a lot of the issues that other Marvel series suffer from.

Alternatively, if I like Punisher are there other series on Netflix that could be recommended (understanding this is supposed to be the Marvel thread).

Jessica Jones is good because of the Villian. He’s by far the best villian out of all the Netflix Marvel shows. I didn’t know who she was before the show and I liked comic books as a kid.

If you want to watch defenders you should watch Jessica jones and maybe some more of the other stuff you skipped. If you didn’t like the other stuff there’s probably no point in watching it.

Jessica Jones suffers from typical Netflix show padding, bizarre Scooby-Doo plot twists, and infuriating pacing, but it's still probably the third best Netflix Marvel after Punisher and Daredevil. Spare yourself the rest of Luke Cage, Iron Fist and the Defenders, they don't improve.

Thanks, I think I'll give them all a skip.

How is S2 of Daredevil? I found Daredevil a struggle to get through at times, with the high points spread out very far apart. Would it be worth giving a shot, or just find something else?

Iron Fist, the show, did actually improve beyond the third episode, even though Iron Fist, the character, did not. Colleen and all the Meachums got more interesting.

DD S2: Watch the first four episodes or so. Google "Punisher jail fight scene".

Honestly the later half isn't THAT bad but Frank's plot basically has him dicking around for like 5 or so episodes because it really doesn't know what to do with him.

Iron Fist: The show improves from absolutely awful to aggressively mediocre. Danny is the worst part of the show. It is not worth watching.

They walk a good line in the show and in Bernthals performance in playing the Punisher as a guy who is sympathetic, but also capable of doing horrible things. The opening scene where he mutters his "one batch...two batch...: catchphrase before running over the mobsters the look on his face its played like he knows what he's doing is awful, but he uses the rhyme to steel himself for it anyway.

Also I loved Frank supportingly atta-boying the bomber to blow himself up in the freezer.

She was so good in that, too.

I think Karen's biggest problems aren't the character herself, but them barely giving her anything good to do. She was great in DDS1 and has had pretty middling or weird story stuff since then, like magically becoming a reporter.

Really hoping them doing a version of Born Again for DDS3 will give DAW something good again.

Yeah, tying her to Frank was a good choice in DDS2 imo and I really enjoyed her bits in Punisher.

Page as a character has a lot of interesting things about her that they just seem to drop. Like when she caps Wesley and goes 'lol you think this is the first time I've shot somebody?' and that leads to ... nothing? A revelation in S2 about killing someone in a car accident? I don't even remember if they followed up on that properly.

e: also I've been rewatching DDS1 and it's still so loving good. All the flashbacks are utilized so drat well and all the closeups on Matt's hands before a fight, bloody after a fight, when he's pissed w/e ugh so good THE SON OF A BOXER!!

like it's just such a cohesive season of television all around and now I'm sad again about DeKnight being gone

We know she killed Wesley and we know her editor and her mentor both found out about something horrible she did and don’t care.

I feel like Rosario Dawson’s character has the exact same complaints. She’s just always his pissed of nurse who fixes/has sex with everyone depending on which show she’s in and I just stopped caring the 3rd/4th/5th time she showed up

I liked her in DD but agree that her character and the performance in Punisher was a weak link.

Yeah, hopefully they won't go with junkie porn actress Karen and make it more of thing we she's trying to do the right thing and winds up trusting the wrong person, invariably leading to Fisk learning about Matt.

I think you're right about the writers mis-using her. She was fine in DDs1 then, after they killed Ben Ulrich for no loving reason, she became him in DDS2 and in Punisher she just seemed like Frank Fangirl.

They need to straighten her out because the actor is fine but the writers just seem to be using her to fill whatever role is needed at any particular time and robbing her of her arc.

I don't think we need to worry about. If he hasn't yet, Fisk is about to figure it out all on his own. He looked like he had a lightbulb come on when Matt met him in the prison.

It's still fresh in my mind so maybe I'm a bit biased right now but I would say that it's probably been the most consistently satisfying season of Marvel Netflix show to date, even if it doesn't quite reach the highs of either Daredevil season.

Yeah, both Fisk and Castle clearly figured it out in DD2. I figure that it starts with Murdock coming back from the dead, only to find out that Fisk has done the mother of all hatchet jobs on him and revealed that he's the devil of Hell's Kitchen. Murdock's quest is then to rebuild his life when he literally can't practice law or actually live.

Finished up Punisher tonight. Overall I liked it quite a bit. Not my favorite rendition of the Punisher as a character, but it definitely had a plot that was on the more interesting and coherent side of Netflix Marvel shows.

Characters were great as well. Madani, Billy, Curtis, and Lewis were all great. Billy in particular has got to be the most evil goddamn character so far in the Marvel universe. 100x better as a villain than "a bunch of ninjas".

There is an extremely graphic scene near the end that felt unnecessary, but other than that the violence felt appropriate for the source material.
