This is exactly the case in tennis. Very rarely do people go to college and then go pro. They go to college because they wouldn't be able to make it in the pros or any of the various satellite tours.

I mean that you cannot compare men's tennis to women's tennis like we compare professional sports versus college sports. People at college are not as good as the pros. It's a hierarchy of talent. Women and Men are both equally talented so it's not like being a woman means your skill is lesser than a man. Therefore, it's a hierarchy of attributes.
