Also as highlighted earlier, the non-refund policy until development ceases just prevents people from jumping the boat if the project begins to go under. If people were allowed to do this then they wouldn't be able to refund everyone fairly and some would end up getting full refund while others get nothing. It's the best outcome for everyone in the unlikely scenario that the project fails.

It's like when a ship is sinking and everybody rushes to the lifeboats. Now, since there is not enough space in those (because Chris and Sandi sold a few to buy a mean espresso machine) it wouldn't be fair for some people to get in and some not so, instead, everybody gets a piece of the lifeboat. The only thing the algorithms that claim they can do is find discontinuities in compression artifacts and the like.

This *can* be an *indication* of the image being photoshopped from multiple sources, but does not say it is one.

Ok so you cite CRs letter to The Escapist, the Zendesk tagging, the plagiarism and the new TOS as reasons you're getting out and assert that Derek did none of those things.

Here is the first line of the escapist letter:

I have, to date, attempted to stay above the internet drama currently surrounding Derek Smart and his claims about Star Citizen.

The ZenDesk tagging was discovered by someone on the /r/starcitizen_trades Reddit. If this thread hadn't picked it up, run with it, screenshotted it and ran it into the ground with Dereks assistance it would never have left that comment thread. We were watching the ZenDesk site get updated live with our feedback in this thread.

The plagiarism is the same. Some of it was noticed two years ago on the RSI forums and nothing happened. As soon as Derek and the filthy Goons (:argh:) got hold of it it became an issue and the art was pulled in hours.

The new TOS is a direct reaction to Derek shouting from the rooftops about the clauses in the old TOS requiring them to give refunds and financial accountability.

"Derek did none of those things. That was all CIG."

Fair enough you've come to your senses and are now trying to get a refund, it might be too late - but it is loving lovely to not give Derek his due here. If it wasn't for him you wouldn't even be considering a refund and may have poured more money in.

:same:

Some of the people posting in this thread got no hassle refunds for hundreds and even thousands of dollars back in August/September last year thanks to Derek. CIG has been doing everything they can ever since to plug the hole he created and this new ToS is the final nail in the coffin. All those people that heeded the red flags got out because of him, that you didn't is not his fault.

This makes all the words they waffle on more and more hollow as time goes by.
It makes even the guys in Berlin sound like loving idiots and bullshitters - the evidence of progress in the game right now is absolutely zero. the whole thing is a crock of poo poo.
I tell you what they are really doing here, and it's loving blatantly obvious with this update - they are adding doodads.
There are now flags and poo poo on walls, some railings have appeared and lockers, some more loving tables and bullshit like that. it's just so transparent what is going on now.

I don't know anywhere better to say this so I'm just going to barf it out over here.

If any publisher/developer wants to make a boatload of money on the next great space shooty sim, all they need to do is straight remake Tie Fighter with modern graphics and sounds. No need to write a new script, missions, etc. The flight model is simple arcade style. You've got the rough design of all ship models already to pass off to designers, so nobody needs to think up anything new.

It would be a relatively easy project, and done with a bit of love it would blow the gently caress up.
