Some people didn't redeem their Catador memberships on time and they are sending out more down the list. Anyone have any idea how many are going out?

No word from CCB, but according to some FB posters, there were around 75 unredeemed this morning. "Additional will be sent out soon." lament.cfg fucked around with this message at 17:55 on Jul 29, 2013 |

I was out of town for about 10 days, but I did get in the first go-round in El Catador. Very pumped. I sent the email from my phone while driving through rural western Minnesota. As for how CCB handled all this: if there's a fair way to get ~1,500 bottles of a beer to 3,000 people, I highly suggest you sell that info to breweries. There's no "good way" to make this work. While on vacation, I had a bunch of MI and MN local things, not much of which I was impressed with. MN in particular has boomed with new breweries in the last couple years, but the only thing I had that I really enjoyed was the Ride Again pale from Lucette. Obviously had some delicious Surly stuff. I lucked into a few bottles of Seviin, which... I dunno. Not my style. Basically came off as a very strong Tripel. Their anniversary beers have been pretty unspectacular.

I was able to stop by GI at lunch today after the line had died down, and picked up a Cthulhu! This morning is my first real experience following anything other than typical seasonal release threads on BA, and boy, do I understand the earlier comments in this thread around the 'walez' culture. Yikes.

I will trade an advance copy of my latest fanfic called Harry Porter, a brewer wizard who fights Budemort aka Tom 'Miller' Riddle, for a Cthulhu. It's worth at least as much as a car.

Duck Duck Gooze is going to sell over Labor Day weekend this year via first-come-first-serve online ticketing. The downside? Six bottle max per person. Either they've made a lot more or there's going to be a rather small number of people obtaining it directly from them.

I already presume BPT will just break at 12:01 of whenever it launches and whale-hunting shitlords will bitch about how entitled they are to DDG despite not liking sours and wanting it solely to complete trades they made without actually having the underlying goods.

I just had a bottle of the last release at a tasting and it wasn't worth the hype. It was good, but not much better than Beatification, 3F Gueuze, or Cantillon Gueuze.

That's what's strange to me; I've never heard anyone claim that the last release of DDG was above and beyond things I can find on the shelf (3F, for example). I find it slightly doubtful people want to pay 4 times what a Cantillon bottle costs for a DDG bottle for reasons other than whale-hoarding.

If I can trade a similar local Gueuze for a bottle or two (*hint hint* anybody want to trade me DDG for an Upland Sour Reserve #3?), I won't put much effort in trying to trade for one, it won't matter much to me if I don't get a chance to try it. I know one thing for sure - being an El Catador member has made my decision to go down again for Hunahpu Day that much easier - you really can't beat the Peg's event the day before, Hunahpu Day, and 7venth Sun's hangover event. If The Bruery can sell $30 bottles of barrel aged beers, so can AleSmith. I'd take an AleSmith barrel aged beer over any of The Bruery beers, too. I'd much rather have access to higher priced beers that stick around on the "shelves" longer rather than have to hunt for a cheaper release like Firestone Reserve's Reserve series. It just means I have to be more selective.

I always feel like I get my money's worth with AleSmith. Take that for whatever it's worth. I wouldn't mind adding more BASS to the cellar, might as well grab the Vietnamese SS too. This is assuming I can get out of the two meetings I apparently have when they go on sale, lame. In "hey I had a beer" news, Maine's King Titus is quite a lovely porter. Not overbearingly roasty, with great viscosity for a ~7%abv porter (not a fan of thin porters). Don't remember how I acquired it, so if it was via goontrade, thanks to someone!

Yeeep. The Mayor is where I spent my 21st, when they still had the Red Table doing cooking. They've got a lot of good beer, but the atmosphere is poo poo, the new food is overpriced, the local beers that I tend to drink are cheaper elsewhere, and I pretty much never go there anymore unless I'm specifically in the mood for an exotic beer. If they do their "100 NoCo brews" thing again for GABF, though, there are a couple days before that where they are trying to kill all their other kegs. I got 3 Van Honsebrueck Framboises and a Stone IRS for $8 last year. I had a steel reserve a few days ago, and I actually kind of liked it. What are the more upscale options for a flavorful non-dark lager? The other lagers I've had have been really bland.

Yeah I just did a double-take there — everything I've had from CIB has ranged from unremarkable to undrinkable. A bar here in Omaha had their chili beer on tap a while ago and it was pure piss. No taste, all heat. E: Huh, that might have been the same beer, now that I'm on their website. It was not good. As long as you're drinking, no heat. Pull the glass away from your lips, burning throat. To quench it you must drink more of a "sour" with no sour going on. Yola is probably the only beer of theirs I would buy again, and I'm starting to wonder if it was even as good as I remember. cryme posted:I saw Bier Station had that on, is it worth trying? OK, glad you weren't using "feeling" in a douchey way ("Bro, I'm totally feeling that Tapout shirt!") CIB is based in Carson, Iowa, about 30 miles east of Omaha. Somebody involved w/ the brewery lives in my neighborhood because they have a mid-90s 4Runner with a huge logo on the back. I guess I should have specified that I was feeling it in a Tums/not looking forward to pissing fire tomorrow sort of way. I was so excited to see a new sour kid on the block, but CIB has not brought the goods And yes, their artwork is shameful.
