Lol I was gonna say, that suddenly dredged up a memory of I think one of the Oz books where there was a huge plot point about whether the Scarecrow could be stuffed with hay instead of straw, which was very relevant to the reading audience of 1908

I guess you could roll a square bale down some stairs? That would work, surely

I believe pushing it down the stairs works. Shoving might work as well... There's debate.

I got this title for the dumbest fucking possible take on sea shanties. Specifically, I derailed the meme thread because sailors in the 18th century weren't woke enough for me, and you shouldn't sing sea shanties. In fact, don't have any fun ever.

you'd think so, but you actually need a surface made of quarter circles for smooth square rolling

Haha, that's amazing.
Conversely, does this mean you could ride a bike over a flat surface with a wheel made from, say, four quarter-circles?
Oh.

Oh.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Square_wheel

The ideal shape isn't actually exactly circular, it's a catenary.

If you arrange quarter circles, instead, you end up either with slight up and down motions or a little bit of slip between the wheel and surface.

I love these forums. You can mention any topic in all of totality and a helpful goon will present the relevant info. It's like a combo of the oracle of Delphi and wikipedia and an RPG random encounter table.
