There's no loving way a reification of the fantasy wall costs anything less than a trillion dollars. Every 100 feet of that (fantasy) wall would cost probably $100,000 if you figure in the logistics of building a huge wall in a totally inhospitable part of the world. It's literally an insane fantasy. [edit] actually 100 feet of tall reinforced concrete wall anchored at anti-tunnel depth into the ground through hard country would be way more expensive than $100,000.

People should listen to last week's This American Life where they interviewed and ICE guy. Walls are stupid. They built a section of 10 foot wall and overnight 11 foot ladders started being used. And so many ladders were used to scale over the wall that they started piling up and they had nowhere to put them

The Big Dig, a shallow underground highway through Boston, cost about that over a decade ago. It's like maybe 5? 6 miles of road? Sure it's impressive and huge and everything and I love Boston since the Big Dig, but compared to a 1000 miles of gigantic Mordor border wall it's like nothing.
