Don't you tell me my business again.
I never really realized how little I knew about Flash until this discussion came up. I never read the comics at all but somehow just sort of assumed I did and I've never seen the TV show either. He must be really hard to write, honestly. Probably tougher than Superman.

Seems like a natural adversary for him would be someone that can slow time or teleport or something but for some reason he has a gorilla and Mr. Freeze Jr. as his main villains. What's a good trade I could read that's good as an entry level Flash collection? Being serious.

I think it's down to the writers and if the Bat and Flash editors are having a pissing match. Snart's tech is stolen, Vic's is all his own design.

I believe only Snarts first iteration was stolen. He memorized the blueprints, learned to make it on his own, and improved upon the design with each iteration.

For example, someone might ask "Why doesn't Flash just speed in and remove the gun?" the answer is it is rigged to explode enough to destroy a city block if it leaves Snart's hand.

For someone just using a stolen gun, you would get a character more similar to Chillblaine.

Someone asked about the giant Gorilla. That gorilla has mind control powers and is usually controlling the Flash's own friends, family, or cops.

Other villains include a guy who can literally do magic from the future with sufficiently advanced technology, a guy who can trap him in another dimension if he accidentally looks at a mirror, and a far less sadistic Joker ripoff with deadly toys. It's a bizarre group of individuals.

And that enemy fits well with some of the questions about Flash. He knows Flash can time travel and begged him to do it help him, Flash refused because it was too dangerous, which made the guy try it himself and become Flash's nemesis.

Flash by Mark Waid, Flash by Morrison/Millar, and Flash by Geoff Johns. Messner-loebs is also fine but nothing amazing. Mark Waid specifically kicks his run off with an origin story. For issues, it's Flash volume 2 #62 to #225.

The movie version they're using is Barry, ostensibly. There aren't really any good Barry stories unless you really like Silver Age stuff. All Modern Barry's been able to do is rehash old Wally stories.

Nowadays Cold just modified his gun to project the cold beam around him in a bubble. So the slowing effect happens if Flash tries to get close to him.

Got asked the same question in CineD, and seems that way, yeah. Computer hacker dude with a suit that cloaks and phases through matter. The other named character cast is Lawrence Fishburne as Billy Foster/Goliath.

My favourite take on the Rogues is when they're just working class guys trying to make a living whose job happens to be supervillainy, and they got their amazing technology because they read articles about things that might stop the Flash and then built them in the prison workshop while they were doing time.

From reading about the character, sounds like they might be going for a dark mirror to Scott Lang angle: tech/science genius who builds a suit that can turn invisible and phase through solid matter while working for an evil megacorp. Works pretty well for a while as the megacorp showers him in money, booze, drugs, and women until they eventually go over the line and the guy (doesn't have a name) snaps, in combination with the phasing tech not being good for his brain chemistry. Dude burns down the megacorp in question between his suit and hacking skills, and becomes a general cyberpunk anarchist dude bringing down The Man.

No cigars for guessing he was an Iron Man villain.

What's odd is they cast a woman for the role. Guess Ghost is an obscure enough villain someone at Marvel decided to break up the sausage fest.

But then, why should Paramount play ball, here? It's not like it's their fault the WB reshoots went on for so long.

I've been told that Spider-Man and the Flashes villains are roughly the same. Both are mostly street level criminals who want to rob banks and jewelry stores, not trying to take over the world or bring about ancient gods or what not. Seriously, you can imagine the Flash fighting The Shocker, or Spidy going up against Cold.

I'd say that, in broad strokes, Flash villains are slightly less murdery than Spidey villains. But there are exceptions and standard-breakers in either case.

Unfortunately plausible. Some interesting potential for cool fight scenes, though, with Ghost appearing and disappearing and phasing in and out.

Assuming they stay accurate to the comics Ghost, though, who seems to have been a very minor villain who fought Iron Man once and not much else.
