I used to think "his guys from IBM" probably got super pissed at constantly having to explain how to save Word documents over the phone but then I realized they probably charge Howard a fuckton of money to do so.

I don't know if Jeff Schick was a VP at IBM when he started working for Howard, but he's probably still at Howard's beck and call once anything technological happens.

I don't get how that relationship started. Did Jeff install the computer systems at the radio station or what? If he's a freakin' VP by now you'd think he'd throw some underling at Howard so he can do his actual job.

My first week at IBM, some 12+ years ago, I messaged Jeff and we talked about the show and stuff for a bit. He's apparently VP of IBM Social Software now, which includes a bunch of collaboration tools. I seem to remember that Jeff was the on-site guy implementing Notes way back in the day, and just had the knack for presenting and explaining technology in a way that made sense to Howard and staff. Not sure what the arrangement is now, but it wouldn't surprise me if Jeff still gives Howard advice on stuff.

Norm Macdonald sometimes brings in this funny guy, Artie Lange, who's got a lot of wild stories. Maybe he'd be a good fit for the Shuli chair??

I just realized that they stopped doing Howard 100 News updates during the show. Does the news team still exist? Is Lisa G out on the street?

In June, I also appeared on the debut of Joe Buck’s HBO show, “Joe Buck Live.” About four hours before the show I’d crushed up four 10-milligram Vicodin and snorted the entire pile, then chased it with liberal swallows of whiskey, so by the time I got to the studio I was what anyone would call “loopy.”

This is going to be a page turner.

Interesting that Bruce was the hero that saved him. That bit at the end there sounded more like how he used to talk about Howard. Artie seems to do that a lot, elevate people to god like status in his life, then blame himself them when things go bad and off he goes looking for a new god or angel to save him.

It's going to be an interesting book to read (or listen to as Gary would say). Hope Artie is doing better.

I really didn't understand his commentary there. While Smokey isn't exactly Citizen Kane, it's a fun "turn your brain off and enjoy" piece of 70s nostalgia. If Artie were still in the studio, he'd have been throwing out Buford T. Justice lines (which I think he has done on his own show a few times).
